The new interim director for NASA TRI (Translational Research Institute through the Baylor College of Medicine) is a powerful woman, great person, and has worked for some time with some other OBs here on the board.

She just put up a job posting, but due to some of the requirements of the posting she's worried that the right candidates won't see it.

I'll put the link and the job posting below, but I want to make sure that OB sees it. A few things:

1. This is a position for someone who wants to do incredibly innovative work, is politically astute (there will be dragons that need slaying everywhere), and is very bright. You've got to love problem solving in a dynamic environment and feed off of the stuff that is thrown at you. More than that, if you apply into this you need to be willing to do UT (or whomever your alma mater is) proud. This is a position that needs great people, not just people looking to phone it in.

This is a chance to touch history with your work. "We are seeking a visionary Candidate who will be responsible for all communications and outreach activities to help the Translational Research Institute (TRI) execute its mission of safeguarding health and performance of humans exploring deep space."

2. Here is her simple language version of the position: “Fantastic Opportunity: director level communications position open for immediate start--working with the space program at the intersection of academia/government/industry. Please disregard the official job title in the posting and read the qualifications and duties.”

3. More changes will be coming to the TRI. The vision for NASA TRI is exciting and while I can't say more than that, I can say that if you are looking to see what you're made of at a director level position that could be one hell of a ride, consider this. Or pass it on to only the people you would be most proud of endorsing.

There is at least one other OB I know who has worked closely with her (for much longer than me) but due to the need to keep a low profile on OB (and all social media) likely won't speak up in the thread. But I can attest that the caliber, character, and intelligence of people in and around this working group is all you could ask for.
