I saw a news story about the new Service Branch....Space Force. Damned interesting. Their basic training is much like I did with the running my ass off and all, but most of the work is in the class room. These recruits are not going to be astronouts( although some might) . They are training for cyber warfare and gathering intellegence on Chinese satellites and such.
I thought about this for a minute and decided those soldiers(spacemen?) would be in damned high demand after, say, 4 or 5 years of training. Then I thought....why screw around with college when you could get a much better education and training right there.....and let the govt pay for it? I wish this would have been around when I was 18 years old. I found out too late that a degree in beer drinking and pool shooting did not pay all that well.
