OT: Taylor Swift class at UT?!?

No wonder tuition across the country keeps skyrocketing. They have to pay for this stuff.

I had to do a world lit class and I had to do papers and presentations on TS Elliot and Kafka and it really really sucked. I think it would have been more enjoyable if there would have been some contemporary work in those classes.

So the bullshit has been a slow incubation. You saw it coming.

Best part--- you fvcking idiots just got stuck with a bill to pay off $10,000 worth of college loans for folks that took classes like this...

Isn't that a little too extreme?
Obviously I don't mean literally but yes, the education system is lost to political wokeness and stupidity. ESPECIALLY when I was responsible enough to pay my debts as promised, just to be forced to pay for others who weren't.
Yes, burn down the educational system and rebuild as it should be. Hell, throw in the entire DOJ while we're at it.

I read that most expect to make 6 figures upon graduation, day 1. Outside of STEM, the average 4yr degree gets you 28-38k/yr at entry level. Too many lies being sold.

Big Academia are the biggest beneficiaries of this idiotic student loan bailout. They're the ones driving up the costs of higher education and are producing people in the workforce with no marketable skills nor specialized knowledge. The solution is easy. If a student defaults on their loans, the colleges and universities pick up the tab. The top 25 schools in the country have endowments that total in the TRILLIONS! They're basically large untaxed hedge funds. Those endowments need to be taxed appropriately to cover loans that are in default. Perhaps then it will incentivize schools to actually teach students to learn something to actually make a living. They would also be more selective about the students they attract to ensure they'll be responsible enough to actually pay back their loans.

If the forgiveness was specifically catered to degrees for say... teachers, doctors, biologist, lawyers ect, I'd still be against it but at least somewhat understand. High dollar in demand fields that require 8yr degrees, not stupid middle eastern gender studies or underwater basket weaving.

That class is harder than you think. Gotta keep clearing your mask and that wicker wants to float, so you gotta anchor it down.

Seriously though, you USED to have to take a PE class at Texas. Football didn't count. UT offered a self contained under water breathing apparatus class. 3 PE credits. When you finished, you were P certified. Now that was a class that could actually save your life at some point.

Man, I haven't been diving in years. Might actually look into a refresher then go see what can be found under party cove or hippie hollow......then again, maybe not.

Hold up......... you went to one of the most elite diving schools on the planet-- you learned how to do sh!t underwater that the rest of us can't even dream up-- and you haven't grabbed a tank in years?

My man-- it's one thing for me to hang up the shoulder pads and helmet-- it's another for you to have hung up the mask and fins.

You literally had to learn how to dive with a fvcking re-breather. That sh!t is HARD.

And you're telling me you didn't stick with at least a portion of that freedom?

It's not a new class added, but we are getting our 21st sport with women's sand volleyball. Mostly the west coast schools dominate in that sport and we are late to the party, but I think we have a good chance in competing.

It's a different ballgame when you have to buy your own quality gear. Not to mention, we don't really have many quality dives locally. I wanted to explore Jacobs Well but couldn't get ahold of the San Marcos ART to unlock the cage door. Then a family happened and my sense of responsibility for others really changed the addiction to adrenaline....kind of.
