Mods, if you feel this is not appropriate, then delete, but after this past week, I feel compelled to offer this important work to my fellow OB family members.
I have been on this board since about 2006 if memory serves me correctly. During my time here I've witnessed A LOT of loss posts, loss of loved ones, i.e. Dad's, Mom's, Children, Divorce, Jobs, Financial, Pets, etc. Occasionally over the last 6 months I've mentioned in various threads that I offer the Grief Recovery Method program, but now I feel I should just let everyone know what service I provide. I've hesitated posting this because I didn't want to come across as some kind of ambulance chaser profiting off of someone's misfortune. I am not doing this work to get rich...I'm doing it because it helped save my life when I hit a really hard place back in 2009. I want to help others recover from devasting losses. For those interested allow me to briefly tell you my story:
The Grief Recovery Method was recommended to me by a close friend. I suffered for over 3 years with grief related issues after my father died unexpectedly. I became a very angry, bitter, and depressed man and didn’t know how to process the pain I was experiencing.
Growing up, the only way I learned how to handle grief was watching my mother deal with the deaths of her only brother and mother. She went into her room and cried, and never spoke about it again. I thought I had to “be strong” and move on and not speak about it. Yet, I had so many thoughts/emotions I wanted to tell someone, but I was afraid to upset them.
I learned through the GRM program that GRIEF is very misunderstood in our society. I finally learned how to process the loss of my Dad and other losses I discovered I had that had never been properly dealt with in my past. It was a life changing experience that restored me back to the man I was before. Since then, I have shared this process with many people who have suffered losses and it has changed their lives for the better. Once I retired last year, I found my calling was to be a grief specialist.
My title is an Advanced Grief Recovery Method Specialist, trained by the Grief Recovery Institute. I conduct both one-on-one and group formats from Austin, Texas. My schedule is flexible to meet your needs. The program consists of 7, one hour sessions that I conduct online via Zoom. We meet once a week and we use the Grief Recovery Method Handbook as our text. Each week, inbetween sessions, you will have some homework and then I walk you through each action step that leads you to recovery and completeness.
If interested, please contact me via DM for more information or to set up your GRM plan. I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation. My normal fee is $395, but I'd like to offer all OB's a 50% discount.
