I got in the smallest of accidents with another driver when 2 lanes merged. I was in he left lane and sped up because I knew the merge was coming to get ahead of another driver. He got angry and tried to speed around me and clipped my tire with the side of his car. No damage to either car but I got a ticket by the officers that showed up later because I was in the left lane. They were perfectly nice about it but said they had to issue a ticket because there was a collision.

I am choosing to plead not guilty because I don't think I'm at fault and I doubt the officers will show up. Even if they do they didn't witness the act.

What's the best "defense" I can use to get out of this is no one shows? Simply say I didn't do it? I've never protested a ticket before. Thanks for the help.
