Probably will get corraled but had this thought the other day with regard to the expensive nature of the US healthcare system when compared to other developed nations. I know it's not very capitalistic but I don't view healthcare as something that should be driven by money. Same with our defense. It should be about safety and well being for our citizens.
I haven't given it a great deal of thought but suppose we have schools like West Point training doctors and nurses and whatnot in return for service and a great paying career and rewarding work. Military discipline and chain of command as well. No need for insurance as this would be included in taxes.
I know most on this board don't like the government taking on anything and it would never happen but suppose this was the way our system began in this country? Do you think it would have worked?
