never been on a cruise and I have a wife and 26 and 22 yr old children. Any suggestions would be appreciated.Do not have any preferences.

First-- are the kids boys or girls or one of each?

"Why is that important clob?", you might ask yourself...

Well, because 26-22 year old young men like going on vacation (especially cruises) where there's going to be some hot single girls. (Assuming your boys are straight of course)

Now while cruising up to see artic glaciers might be really cool, the odd are the boat is going to be filled with old ass septigenarians living off their 401k. Young men love hanging with their folks------- for a while---- but then when it's bed time for the Rents, the fellas are going to want to peruse the bars and nightclubs on board to try and scam some cruise bunnies. I've even known young men that hooked up with staff members on the boats (cough) and the iceberg cruise really doesn't have a great selection of young staff members--

So for Boys I've got two suggestions-- bad ass cruise through the Caribbean or virgin islands OR the Viking cruise through eastern Europe. Why eastern Europe? Because eastern European chick's LOVE them some Texans. Just make sure your boys wear cowboy boots out to the bar and say "ma'am" alot and those Hungarian girls will handle the rest. Trust me. Same thing in Prague, Bratislava and Poland. Your boys will have a blast, you'll win father of the year and all will be well in the Evan's family household.

If you have daughters-- take them on the iceberg cruise through Alaska. It's beautiful, they'll love it and there won't be any 20 something year olds walking around with hard ons trying to buy your little girls drinks all night.

Hope this was helpful.

Been on 2, both Royal Caribbean. Fist was out of Galveston and we went with 4-5 other family’s. It was fun and my kids were young at the time. Last year went to Alaska leaving out of Seattle. The sights and happenings were well worth it. Royal Caribbean has great talent and shows both times that I went. Really enjoyed both!

I've been on a couple of Royal Caribbean cruises as well. I would try to go out of Florida and take in DisneyWorld or something out there too, if time allows.

Don't spend a bunch of money on a cabin room. You're hardly ever in there. If you like to drink a lot, buy the daily drink wristband. Its worth it. Do the excursions. Most are pretty fun. Stay away from the touristy trap vendors that set up right outside of the ship.

I've always wanted to go on a cruise with a bunch of Lesbians just to see if I can flip one.

Of course I also wanted to go on a cruise with a bunch of midgets just to see if I can flip one of them.

Since you're talking about a summer cruise, a Mediterranean cruise would provide all of the "amenities" @clob94 outlined above, with the added bonus of hitting some real historical sights. If you aren't feeling the Eastern European river cruise, you might try the Baltic. Your ship will be a little more spacious than a river cruise, but the sights won't compare....except for St. Petersburg....that place is a giant dish of history.....I would also second what everyone else has said about Royal Caribbean....been on 3 cruises with them and the service and food have always been exemplary. Wife and I are looking at Princess now for an Asian cruise in a couple years....

The fault in his river cruise plan is the ships travel at night so while chasing tail your ship is under sail to the next port.
Oh no my friend. You get a night in each city. And the best part is, if you miss the boat, hop on the train and haul ass to the next stop. Trust me---- it's been done.

I went to Alaska with my family on a Cruise in the summer after I graduated college. It might have been coolest vacation I've ever taken. We cruised for 7 days, then took a train ride in to see Denali, spent two nights there, and then fly home. It was amazing. I was 23 and loved it at the time.

This thread is in great danger of having my good friend @Scholz question how this is related to longhorn sports and why it's posted here.

I appreciate all the feedback. River cruises up the Seine and Rhine have always been on my bucket list as well as Alaska. Tough choices

how much were you planning on spending would be the best place to start...
a week on the Liberty out of Galveston will run about $1000 to 2000 for two in an inside cabin....if you want the drink package that goes for about $45.00 per day per person.....both in the cabin have to buy it and it is for all 7 days so about $630 for the week....parking will run 50-60 bucks for the week. Add in $28.00 per day per cabin for tips and there you go...

P.S......I might not be the best authority as I have only been on 69 cruises so farwith 723 days at sea.

Riding the Ferry to Alaska in your RV is pretty cool!, leaves from Seattle to Anourage

Canyon Lake is for Cedar Choppers with boats
Most people don’t believe there were actually cedar choppers. In college, I used to work for a guy and we used machinery to clear several big ranches around Wimberley that were becoming nice subdivisions. These whole ranches were covered with the discarded portions of cedar trees that weren’t used for fence posts etc. Grey covered the ground of those whole ranches. We burned brush for literally years. Cedar choppers earned their damn pay

incidentally....summer is the most expensive time of year to cruise. We can do a 14-17 day trans atlantic cruise for cheaper than a 7 day carribbean cruise in the summer.

Yes. Cruises aren't inexpensive. Also consider money for the casino if you like to gamble and expenses and tips for excursions.

Yup! Back in the day, I had a JD 455 Track loader and cleared all the cedar off 5000 acres and pile them up and burnt them, but I had 2 guys with a chainsaw cutting them at ground level, but on the hills it was bad as the tracks would start sliding on ya, been there, everyday at 6 , I took off my clothes and jumped into that cool Frio river that run at the back of the ranch

Erievan:

I actually went on my first cruise ever over New Years this year. Got to watch the Sugar Bowl in the sportsbar. It was epic watching the aggys talk sh!t before the game started, and just quietly sliver away as the game went on.
I learned that you can pretty much do as much as you want or as little as you want. There are activities galore on board, and excursions pretty much at every port. Ours was 5 nighter to Cancun.
It was on Carnival Valor ship. My next one would be out of Miami. I learned that this was basically the Walmart of cruise lines, but still had fun.
I think MM mentioned above be ready to spend extra $$ that you may not think or know about. The casino did hit me hard, but that’s expected. And I highly recommend buying the drink package. I only had to buy one since I shared a room with my daughter. (I want to say it was $250, but well worth it) since most drinks run between $7-$11.
One thing though, you NEVER go hungry! Food available from early morning till late at night!

Hook em!

I've only been on 1 Cruise and it was Pride of America (Hawaiian Cruise). If you haven't been to Hawaii, this is a great way to take it in as you go to 4 of the Islands and it's a 7 Day Cruise (I believe there are 2 overnight ports). Also, if you like golf you have time for that was we played golf 2 different days.

Only have been on five but best was a western Med cruise starting and ending in Barcelona. At sea only at night and in port every day; France, Genoa, Naples, Palermo, Tunis and Majorca. About 9 days and very memorable. Unfortunately, the ship sank the next year off Naples. Costa Concordia. Most in port time we had on any cruise.
