I went to an awards dinner last night for a school where I sponsor one kid in particular, as well as several others in a lesser way.

One of the teachers got up and said a prayer at the beginning. It was a very generic prayer with no mention of Jesus. It was similar to what I would have said if I were forced to say a prayer in public.

Anyway, I am a little annoyed (not a lot) that the school has such little respect for the law. But I'm not going to do anything about it, I don't think. At most I will wait a month or so and write the principal a personal note saying that they should be careful not to allow their personal views to affect the ability of the kids to be sponsored by someone like me. I would have a hard time allowing those women to teach my child, however, even though they seem to be excellent teachers. I would like my child's teachers to both understand and respect the law.

Anyway, rant over. I probably won't do anything but it is ridiculous how religious people neither understand what religious freedom is, nor to they have any respect for the non-religious or non-believers. But it really isn't a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

Tell me why I am wrong, or if I should do more.
