Whats this horseshit? you come to Texas to play then give them a scolly, a lotta walkon started Longhorn games and blew it away, I would never walk on at a Uni that would not give me a scolly in the 1st place, too many out there that would, either sign me or get rid of me, Herman wants to drive the car for a season then pay for it, we got enough guys on the bench that should not have a scolly, preferred walkon sounds like a damn credit card advertisement

You can't say things like "I don't want someone that doesn't want to play for us" and also say "I wouldn't come here if I wasn't offered a scholarship". He turned down a scholarship from U of H so he wants to be at UT. I'm sure his parents told him already that he has a "free" ride at UH but he decided he rather play at UT. What's wrong with that?

Bayouth has an impressive profile — he’s 6’3 and 247 pounds, so he’s not undersized like many walk ons, and he holds offers from Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, and Yale. Oh, and he also has an offer from Houston head coach Major Applewhite.

Well, if Applewhite wants him enough for a full ride then he's probably worth it, then we oughta give him one..its already that kids don't think their good enough to play here and then they go to other teams and run the table, its funny in Austin all the most high school players go elsewhere to play, cause they wasn't good enough or wasn't offered, Pop Snyder would make a killing in Austin HS leftovers..LOL, I would rather have ten kids that wanted to play here like Bay then ten that have Star ratings, judging from his offers , he sure not dumb , thats for sure

Herman's doing it the right way.

We made a lot of sh*tty offers in the last several years of the Mack Brown era, some of which were to players who (were said to) "bleed burnt orange" rather than do the hard work of fighting for the more talented players who didn't grow up wanting only to play for Texas -- the latter being a description, by the way, that applies to Texas greats like VY, Derrick Johnson, Roy Miller, and many others that Mack & Co. originally fought for tooth and nail.

Offers aren't rewards for being a Texas fan who happens to play high school football. There has to be a standard: "Do we feel, based on our evaluations, that this is the sort of player who can play a significant role on (and stay eligible on) a championship team?" If the answer is no, then no offer.

If a recruit loves Texas so much that he's willing to play here for free rather than take a full ride at a mid- or low-major, that's truly great, and we should welcome him as a PWO. Evaluations are inexact projections, and if the PWO comes in and is able to fight his way onto the depth chart and prove that he should have had offers from Texas and other big-name programs, he'll get a scholarship. If not, he'll help the program as a PWO.

There's no room for the inefficiencies of feel-good bullsh*t if we want Texas to get back to playing for and winning championships.

I'm just going to pay to get those two together so they can row-sham-bo and see who wins. Metcalf is younger and plays video games so you know his hand reflexes are faster, but FB has jungle time and hand to hand experience. Plus, grumpy old men are ruthless and have no rules.

It would be an interesting match up.
