Time to break out the dictionary...Scaphism.
What tech is doing to okie lite is scaphism now.
I'll save you the time.Time to break out the dictionary...
Well I'll be a dirty name....I learn something everyday. Not sure I wanted to know that but my students will get a kick out of it, ghouls that they are. I will of course give proper credit for the knowledge. Also credit to the Persians. They make Native Americans staking you out on a anthill look like a picnic....I'll save you the time.
Scaphism is quite possibly the worst form of slow torture ever known in human history.
The Persians would tie you up in a dug out canoe and force feed you milk and honey for days. Loads of it. Eventually you'd sh!t yourself and puke all over yourself and that's when they'd drag you down to the river bank and smear your body in honey. And every day would keep coming back and keep force feeding you. You crap more, you puke more and eventually the insects arrive. And insects like laying eggs in dug out canoes filled with human poo. The eggs hatch and the larva would eventually find a way to crawl up your orifices and start eating you from the inside out. The longest recorded example of scaphism that I've found lasted 17 days. You don't die of hunger or dehydration, nope. You die from insects burrowing into you and eating you and causing infection.
Pretty much the worst way to die.
Me second favorite was what the Japanese used to do.Well I'll be a dirty name....I learn something everyday. I worry about you @clob94 ....Me second favorite was what the Japanese used to do.
Bamboo can grow up to 30+ inches in a 24 hour period. The Japanese used to find newly sprouted bamboo and take a knife and tip it with a point. Then they would stake you to ground on top of the newly sprouted bamboo and just let nature do what it does. So let's say that the bamboo would only 10-12 inches in a day--- you still had multiple sprouts of bamboo growing up through your body cavity. Eventually you'd bleed out but I would imagine this was after a very painful couple of days.

The study of human nature is a past time of mine. I've studied Vlad the impaler, the tower of London, Pinoche, Spanish inquisition etc. You can tell quite a bit about a society and the psyche of said societies by the tactics they used to interrogate or torture their enemies. It's no different than reading the "Art of War" to understand the implementation of war tactics and leadership skills, or reading "Mein kampf" to understand the process by which someone became antisemitic and thus attempted to wipe an entire race off the planet.I worry about you @clob94 ....
We could spend the rest of our lives debating the worst torture and execution techniques of our ancestors. The ones mentioned are not even the tip of the iceberg.
Humans are the cruelest species of animal and capable of tragedies most people are ignorant of. Fortunately for all of us we don’t live in “the good ol’ days”
Yeah I get it. I've got an advanced degree in studying human behavior after 25 years in law enforcement. A good friend of mine who was a cop in the Bay Area used to say that every law enforcement officer has a healthy dose of morbid curiosity in their make up. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you would have made a good cop @clob94 . These days my pastime is pretty much history, both American and European, until I can get my back healed up and swing a golf club again that is. That and reacquainting myself with the Great State of Texas....The study of human nature is a past time of mine. I suffer from the never ending desire to know "why". Character flaw.
“Every group wants to rule the world”.In the good ole days at least ya knew where ya was standing and could defend yourself, not these young people today have , no honor or integrity or feelings about life, the last few generations have really F'up
this world and Technology helped them, people don't realize that they are no rules in War and Peace is seldom accomplished by negotiating,, they raise their Generations to fight and kill..there is no more sign this paper and we will go away shit. Seems like every group wants to rule the world..
