So let me see if I remember this correctly
So Colt is playing and Sneed leaves we are about to get John Brantley from FL. The assistant we had that connected him to the school left and Brantley went to UF.
Therefore we had no transition QB between Colt and Gilbert Garret.

Let's say Colt gets injured and we throw in a sophomore Brantley. We can probably win the natty.

This paired with Mack leaving the spread set us up for disaster.

Not so sure Brantley was that much better than Gilbert.

Brantley sucked and Gilbert sucked. Handing the keys over to either at any point would have been disastrous. We had zero depth at QB all through Colt's career. Sneed left, Kinne left, Chiles changed positions, and we didn't recruit anyone in 08. There is nothing wrong with making Gilbert your lone QB recruit in 09, but you must take 1 QB every year.

It's hard for teams to build up QB depth these days because as soon as a 4 star QB isn't starting his second year he is transferring.

leaving Colt in for mop up duty late in games was what drove me up a wall....either that or mack would take his foot off the gas so as to not embarrass the other team....lost opportunities to bring Gilbert along slowly...get some real game experience could have changed history. Tossing a freshman into the fire in the second quarter ot the title game is the opposite of slowly if you ask me.

So No one recruited Foles and he only got offers from Mich St, Duke, LaTech, Miss, Rutgers, UTEP, and UVA. He committed to MSU and xferred to AZ later.

Everyone missed on Andrew Luck. Offers from Stanford, Northwestern, OSU, Purdue, Rice, UVA.

RG3 was offered by UH, Kansas, Nebraska, and Tenn. And moved on with Briles from UH to BU.

Who cares about Florence???

We recruited the other guys and just didn't get them for a myriad of different reasons.





My two cents. We could fart around all day and talk about who we didn't get and how that could've changed things. It doesn't matter. Lets just focus on building now. You can't sit here and act like Snead or Gilbert were viewed as losers when we recruited them over Nick Florence. Hell both arguably actually had better careers than say Nick Florence anyway. Just not at Texas.

Andrew Luck was pretty highly rated. I don't think he was that under the radar. I think his offer list on rivals is likely not accurate, especially back in 08. As for RG3 it's pretty apparent that Briles farts QBs out each morning. Between Florence, Petty, and Russell RG3 looks less special with each QB Baylor trots out there.
