Get prepared to be pissed off, but I bet OU is still ranked ahead of us. Personally, I think rankings should wait until at least week 3 so pre-season rankings don't effect outcomes later on. Watching Fl. State against Ole Miss, they should not be in the top 20.

Of course they will be ranked ahead of Texas. OU was 3rd and Texas was later part of other receiving votes. They played a top 15 team. Most likely drop to around 12-15. Texas should get bumped to around 18-20

Totally agree rankings shouldn't come out until week 4 or 5 to see who is what

Pre season rankings won't matter when it comes to playoffs. By the time the committee stsrts putting things together everyone will have 6-7 games under their belt. We will have a good idea of who is who. OU plays OHio state next week anyway. So they are going to either net a really good win or be 0-2 and ranking won't matter squat. If Texas takes care of itself they'll be in the mix

The only reason I hate rankings this early is because invariably somebody at the end of the season will say "we beat a top 5 team, we're good" no matter how many games said top 5 team goes on to lose. Beating a top 5 team week 12 means something; beating a top 5 team week 1 may mean something, but you'll have to wait until week 12 to find out.

Why would any of us be pissed off. Season just started things will work themselves out if we keep winning.

Not going to be upset with that at all. I hope we're ranked low enough to really piss all of our players off.
And stay humble enough to realize that they need to work hard and be absolutely determined and prepared mentally in order to win. To not assume that we'll beat ISU, for example, and say bad things about them in the week leading up to the game.

Preseason and early rankings have become a punch line, but they are here to say. It's a lot easier to sell # whatever vs # whatever early on even though outside of a few teams we don't know who is really good yet.

We settle it on the field vs OU so they can have us unranked and them #1 for all I care.

Ranked 11 in the AP poll. That’s a big jump. I was guessing 18-20. Better not let it go to their heads. They have a long hard road to hoe.

#11 in AP. #20 in coaches. I also would've guessed around 18-20, but I can't recall such a wide gap in polls. Wisconsin also went from unranked to #10 AP, #16 coaches. Coaches still have 0-1 OU and Miss ahead of us. Not complaining and like you said, there's a long way to go. Just keep winning and everything will sort itself out. But still surprised by the gap in the polls.

This time of year is just crazy. Again, even week 2 looks weird after 1 week of football. I don't know that I've ever seen this kind of movement after one week. The polls will settle in here one conference play starts. I was thinking Texas would be somewhere around 18-20. Kind of shocked at the one. I had OU about right. It's great for a Texas fan if they take care of business it sets up nice for them. Georgia climbed more than they should have as well. I guess it really doesn't matter right now. It's just something fun to talk about. A&M is about where I thought they would be as well.

Meh.... dead last or 1st doesn't matter until bcs rankings are released. Early season rankings only offer the opportunity for fans to label rivals "overrated" when they lose.

Did not expect to make the top 25, even after the win. I almost would prefer it. Win the next games agains UTEP, Cal, OSU, and blowU, then get in there and show em what you are about. I am really surprised by the AP ranking. We are not there yet.

Prefer to be under-ranked. Some teams let the rank get in their heads and lose the fire. Seems like we've got good leadership in the locker room, so I expect we'll stay hungry.

Just need to grind out the W's, week by week.

Hook 'em

Normally I never ever root for OU. But I'd kind of like to see them beat OSU. Not sure I want to play a 2 loss team in the cotton. Kind of like us last year. Better for them to feel good about themselves, then kick their ass out of the top 25.

For the record again, as I posted in another thread earlier: I have no problem with the rankings for OU. Texas should be ranked higher than OU. OU played like crap and got beat.
