Steve Worster was the first star in Darrell Royal's original Wishbone offense. This was the the backfield of the '69 national champions. This was a team that went on to win 30 straight games
That backfield averaged over 40 points per game. Steve Worster declined the NFL for the Canadian football league. He got busted for marijuana possession so he got kicked out and I don't think he played in the NFL.
In his final game against ND in the Cotton Bowl he fumbled 3x and we lost. I read that he and Royal had an estranged relationship after that game. He felt that Royal blamed the loss on him. But in the end they reconciled. Good. I sure did enjoy watching him play. I'm glad I got to see him play in person acouple of times while he was there.
