I live in Huntsville, AL and Ruidoso, NM half of each year. I visit relatives in Huntsville/Conroe area in Texas and in Denton/Hickory Creek (TX) area. Where are there restaurants that serve venison? And how do they serve it.

I was told recently that restaurants in Texas by law cannot serve venison. Don’t know if that is true or not.
Was wondering the same thing. Don't think you can serve game at restaurants, maybe if they are farmed?

a lot of the venison served in Texas restaurants comes from www.brokenarrowranch.com. You can buy it, wild boar, nilgai, etc.. there. I believe it's one of only a few places in Texas permitted to sell wild game.

A restaurant can serve wild game as long as it’s been federally inspected.
This

Wild Hog is very popular back East and several purveyors offer it. I have been in at least 3 plants here in Texas that process for some of the larger ones. Wild hogs are a little easier to get though the chutes then you might think.

Most venison that is served in Texas is either Red Deer or Axis.

Which months do you live in Huntsville, AL and which months do you live in Ruidoso, NM, respectively? How are you related to the relatives in Huntsville/Conroe area in Texas and how are you related to the relatives in Denton/Hickory Creek (TX) area, respectively? Which place and which relatives are your favorites?

So many questions, so few fvcks to give! 😉

Love and War in Plano serves Venison Chili, its ground up and it is delicious, spicy as well.

I’m not sure if Prague is out of the question, but best venison I’ve ever had is from Central Europe. Those dudes been poaching and roasting deer for centuries lol

Bonnells in Ft. Worth serves Elk and Bison. No venison. Great place to eat at though. One of my favorite spots in Ft. Worth.

Lonesome Dove in FTW serves elk loin on their menu.

One of the best “winter” dishes you can eat in Switzerland is grilled Venison with peppercorn sauce and spatzle with a little red cabbage on the side. Or, a nice venison schnitzel.

Legal to sell any “non native” wild game that has been fda inspected.

Not legal to sell white tail. Most of the venison you see on Texas menus, coming from Texas is either axis or red.
