I have a feeling that some emphasis has been put on the defense this week in practice which hopefully cleans some things up. I think the offense is at a level where we should expect it to be pretty consistent through the year.
He is outdoing his recruiting hype. There are a handful of 5 star CBs each year and even they are unlikely to start for a school like Texas. Watson was a solid 4 star, number 16 CB in the nation. It is impressive he is on the depth chart at this point considering the talent in front of him.Speaking of corner, how is Kenyatta Watson not getting a shot? I know he's just a freshman, but a highly touted one. With the way our corners are looking, it seems like he would at least get a look. No way he can be worse than Boyce, or is he not living up to his recruiting hype?
Put 8 in the box and make Boyce and the other corner duel it out for the starting spot. Who cares if Rice scores some points. We need a starting left corner.
Two men enter, one man leaves.
We were running a lot of cover 6 and cover 8. Cover 6 is a combination of cover 2 and cover 4 (quarters) but you man up on the outside with the corners. We don't have two corners we can trust in man to man.How much is on the scheme? I'm not an expert but it seems like everyone was playing back and giving the LSU receivers too much cushion. I guess they were in zone a lot.
Oh yeah, about that whole D line not being able to create pressure, your right. I'm getting tired of watching our safeties have to blitz every other play to try and force a bad throw. It would be a lot easier if they could stay back in coverage.
