Kiffin has the reputation of being unlikeable. Well, now he has been dismissed by Saban immediately because it is best for the team. Sarkisian is taking over. In spite of Kiffin's unlikeability, I think it is a mistake by the almighty Saban.

What link do you have that shows that ?because ESPN is reporting it's mutual so kiffin can get to his new job.

So Sark was an "analyst" for Bama, while Kiffin coached.

Was Mack the first to do that, with Greg Robinson replacing Manny Diaz, I think? Who was the first?

Same one as you read on ESPN. I am of the opinion that it is one-sided. I don't know anybody who is willing to give up a national championship ring for just 1 more week. He is deserving of it, but, that is the way Saban operates and I respect it. Here are a couple of more things from the article that back up what I believe:
1) Kiffin had been late to several events in the past week leading up to Alabama's 24-7 CFP semifinal win over Washington in the Peach Bowl -- including meetings and media day -- leading some Alabama staff members to say they "were done with him," sources told ESPN's Brett McMurphy.

2) Kiffin, who credits Saban for showing him how to handle an entire program as a head coach, joked last week that he couldn't recall any fond memories at Alabama, only the so-called "ass-chewings" Saban gave him from time to time.
Several Alabama staff members were "dumbfounded" about those Kiffin comments, sources told McMurphy, and also Kiffin's comments that "fun is not a word we use around here."

This guy seems pretty thin skinned and myopic. As a professional, you finish your role strong before moving to the next one. It will be interesting to see who he can attract as assistants as they may see him as someone who does not help develop them professionally and keeps things focused on himself. Briles may wish he stayed in Waco, but that may have not been an option considering the new coach is probably cleaning house.

When you get cutesy when the power run game is working just fine Saban isn't going to tolerate it. Just ask Major.

I have no idea why Kiffen called all that motion and misdirection against UW when the UW defense sees it in every practice. UW couldn't stop the power run game.

Saban got tired of Kiffen,Kiffen got tired of Saban, happens in marriages all the time,Big house, nice cars it does not matter, you need to split,Kiffen had his next gig lined up.

Kiffen is a bit of an ego guy but Saban isn't exactly the easiest guy to work for either. I mean you ask all his former assistants and they'll all tell you that. Bellichek has had a good number of guys work for him multiple times. Guys don't go back to Saban.

Saban probably figured that anyone whose judgement was so poor as to hire the toxic Kendle Bryles was too dumb to be on his staff.

Against Washington, except for the running game, the Alabama offense was anemic. Alabama does not need Kiffin to dial up running plays.

I hope the oc change the week before the title game comes back to haunt Bama against Clemson.

I heard a couple of things on the radio this morning (Neuheisel and Childers).

Bama related: Apparently, Kiffin said that bama was seeking approval to have him in the booth or on the field for the Clemson game. Supposedly, there is already a movement due to the disapproval of many universities of the excessive coaching staff related positions at bama. I can't speak to that myself because I don't know, however, it was just something interesting they spoke about.

Kiffin related: Other reasons for his unpopularity in bama. First, he made remarks on a radio station that on his 1.4 million salary, he doesn't end up with that much because of his divorce plus, he has to live in Tuscaloosa. A separate comment was that he has been in alabama for 3 years which is more like 21 dog years (or something of the sort). I have to admit that it is a little funny, but, it is a bonehead move to say it publicly.

I was thinking - Briles and Kiffin on the same staff. Let the fireworks begin (on and off the field).

I still think it is very telling that the OC of the defending national champion finds his jumping off point at FAU. FAU! That's all I need to know when picking whose side to believe. How the mighty have fallen. Same for K Briles.

Kiffen has had unbelievable opportunities in his young coaching career, and he has not fared well at any of them. FAU?...I am amazed he is hired by anyone at all.

I wouldn't say he hasn't been successful. He's been a very good OC at Bama. Saban wears on coaches pretty quick and there is a lot of ego in that room between the two. I think he would of been pretty good at Tennessee bad he stayed. He wasn't really that bad at USC either when you consider the fact they were in the midst of the Reggie bush sanctions.

8-4
10-2
7-6
3-2(fired)

Lane is young and has an ego and he's made mistakes but worse coaches have kept their job. His inablity to get along with people is a bigger issue than his coaching ability.

If he does a solid job at FAU watch out for him at Nebraska.
