Sam's status

I want Sam to play but I'd rather him play in the B12 game IF Shane can play well against Kansas. Not sure what that does to Shane's eligibility to transfer though.

Or can we not have Sam running as much against Kansas to save that shoulder. Doubt it that's just the way he plays.

I say start Shane. If Shane struggles throw in Sam. But if we can avoid it let Sam sit and heal for wv/blowu

Nevermind you said at Kansas but come on man he did ok last year.

Lol, you had me scratching my head there for a minute. Yeah he did ok last year, but at Kansas, man, bad memories. I'm sure he'd love a shot at redemption, but that's just bad mojo.

I'm looking forward to the UT/KU game. Thinking it may be closer than predicted as the weather looks to not be great, especially if the rain sticks around.

I like SB. I am afraid that for Shane to be really good, he needs excellent protection up front. We have good but not excellent. He tends to have drive killing sacks and it happened on Saturday. Sam can run and bully the defense. He is preferred. It will be chilly in Kansas. We need a qb with some push.

Hopefully by next year, one of the rs frosh will be ready to go... that can run.

Are you saying that you think Sam had concussion symptoms as well?
Of course he did. The question is, we're they minimal (probably) or more serious (unlikely).

I say they were minimal not because I know, but because if they weren't, they sure as sh!t wouldn't let him come back onto the sidelines. When you have a concussion, they run you over to the med building and scan your CAT. You have a doctor that won't let you out of his sight.

He more than likely got a shoulder or neck stinger (we've all had those and they suck) and when you get one of those there's also some residual brain sloshing that's happened. I'm sure sam was in pain and maybe a tad woozy, but once he got back to the doc, the haze was lifted but the neck or shoulder was throbbing.

Regardless, if it were serious, you wouldn't have seen him come back on the sidelines, much less with his pads on. The doc's shut that sh!t down quickly.

My thought is that everyone we play from here on out will look at Sams left shoulder as a big damned bullseye....especially if they play dirty. Whoever starts I hope we build a big enough lead that Rising can get some meaningful minutes. Perhaps we will will have to play him anyway with no lead at all.....gut check time boys!

Anyway....I love that we are playing at this time of year with a real prize at the end if we win. The last we were only playing to look less shitty....not much of a goal at all.

You mean as a backup or starting QB?
Imo, the only way I'd demote Sam next year is if the fish was the reincarnated 3rd year of VY. Sam isn't perfect but he gives us what we need until we can shore up some weak links.

Herman said Sam was begging to go back in against Iowa State. Also he has a bruised ac joint is what I read

If we are running their butts over, the shoulder will be an elusive target.

The key has always been our defense. Roach has been huge for us. His absence hurt.

Hell of a competitor. Come hell or high water I'm want to go back in! As the adrenaline wears off and your body cools down is when you realize how much damage you took.

Speaking of, and I know we use Toradol from time to time in a pinch to keep that pain down and the adrenal flowing:

Were you guys allowed to give injections like that on the battle field to keep an operator in the fight?

I have been damned critical of Sam this year....but he has gotten better.....and better....and better. I never dreamed he could become anywhere near accurate...but he has. If he improves half as much sophmore to junior year as he has sophmore year start to sophmore year finish, he might be mentioned among the greats. I cant remember any player changing my mind for the better in just one year.

Bit of a touchy subject here. You'd be surprised at how little tactical medics actually have on hand. Besides military fix all drugs ibuprophen & clariton, there isn't a whole lot of "feel good" stuff involved. Most everything else is for trauma so ya keep out of the goodie bag until someone requires it.

Now as far as stimulants.........the mission comes 1st.

Ya..... I knew about the stimulants. I think it was ramadi where ISIS commanders were handing out either adrenaline or atropine shots to some of their men. Or at least that's what I was told. The same rules used to apply in the locker room: anything for the win.

Shane can play in two more w/o burning the RS under the new rules. I'd save him as a backup for the possible CCG and bowl game and eliminate running plays for Sam against KU.

I stepped outa a chopper wrong and sprained my ankle bad and the medic just rolled me a joint and said I'll be back...LOL, you save the Morp sticks for the badly hurt, like a gunshot wound etc...but, the smoke did the job..

With the QB talent that Texas currently has and has coming in, even if Shane redshirted, I don't think that he'll ever see the field after this year if he stays.
