I hope that he can fill the OLINE and defensive line in to make it work,,,there are a lotta big guys in their, I don't know why he just start working with our QB's we have throw things outa the QB if he got another 2 outa the Portal... now, seems it would, I am sure that everyone in the portal has some baggage that comes along with them..he gonna have to play a Pop Snyder till we can get on time...

How many players can Sark take in the portal? My understanding is that those players still count against your 25 yearly scholarships, so unless your willing to forsake bringing in a full class of freshmen, it can be hard to get more than 4 or 5 guys in a single year. I know Gundy talks about saving 2-3 scholarships each year for portal transfers and so this year, his freshman class will only be 16 or 17 players. Gundy has highlighted the fact that this creates an imbalance in that you can 'lose' as many as want to go, but you are very limited in your ability to directly replace those that transfer out.

Sark is getting absolutely destroyed on the recruiting trail right now, no surprise after the disaster that this season was. He is missing on all the big targets and doesn't look like he is wanting to fill the HS class with jags just for the sake of taking a certain number of players. He will probably try to fill the empty spots with transfers. So a smallish number of HS recruits and a larger number of transfers is what it looks like will happen.

Cool. I missed that. How many open schollys does UT have? I assume the 85 limit is still in place.

I don’t know how many we have but yes 85 is still the limit. I believe the extra 8 are allowed to account for outgoing transfers. I think we’ve had 6 leave so far so we would need 2 more to transfer to be able to bring in 33.

I'm not sure how you can say that when you haven't seen a single one of them play a snap at the collegiate level yet? A fringe top 10 class after a 5-7 season would be above what most of us expected after this disastrous season.

Just because it was expected doesn't mean he's not getting smoked, I guess I was hoping this band of recruiters he put together would be able to land some top talent. I'll change my mind if he manages to land just one of his top targets that are left out there. Right now it doesn't look good.

Yep, I think instead of filling up on bread they will hit the portal hard.

I would think its just as hard to convince the highly rated portal kids to come here as it is HS kids right? "here is my top 3 with UT making the cut" Only to lose out to another university. Same song diff dance.

Possibly, but they are looking for opportunities to play and be seen. Texas should be able to give them that. Teams that are already good have depth and the path to play is not as clear as it is at Texas.

Who's in the portal will be interesting this year though. Since many teams have lost their 6th year seniors, there should be many more openings all around. Perhaps this will tamp down the portal especially for the better players.

Maybe Sark will pull in some those good, hungry 2s and 3s that can beat the high vaulted 4s and 5s. This seemed to be the topic of who was playing good and beating more "talented" teams this year.
