Bill Rees, one of college football's most enduring personnel experts, has landed with another blue-blood program, multiple sources confirm to FootballScoop.

Rees, a former on-field assistant coach at UCLA who also worked in the NFL and had a long run most recently of more than a half-decade at Notre Dame, has accepted a personnel position with the University of Texas and Steve Sarkisian's Texas Longhorns staff.

Per sources, Rees is expected to fulfill his duties in the role in a remote capacity, scouting prospects, the Texas roster and opponents, among his duties.

His son, Tommy Rees, is the former starting quarterback and offensive coordinator at Notre Dame who held the distinction of being Nick Saban's final offensive coordinator at Alabama.

Tommy Rees helped tutor Jalen Milroe and turn the Crimson Tide into an eventual SEC champion and College Football Playoff participant.

Bill Rees additionally has worked at Wake Forest with Dave Clawson, as well as the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Bucs, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers.

Texas advanced to its first-ever College Football Playoff appearance in 2023 and since has transitioned to the SEC.

The Longhorns return star quarterback Quinn Ewers, among other key pieces, and are again expected to challenge for a CFP berth in the all-new expanded 12-team playoff.

Texas opens its 2024 season Aug. 31 against Colorado State before a massive intersectional tilt at defending national champion Michigan, under the leadership of first-year and first-time head coach Sherrone Moore.
