How about we give our linebackers a chance to be linebackers before we screw things up by moving defensive leader to a position he has never played before.
The safety who has the best chance to be a linebacker is DeMarvion Overshown. Even he is a wait and see. Besides, with the way all of our safeties hit, there will be more than a few suspensions. We need them all.

Don't be surprised if you see, on more than just 3rd and long, a three man front with two LBs and two hybrid safety "linebackers" that can run with any wR or RB and still have enough lick to take down pulling guards.
I just think B Jones has all the characteristics of a NFL LB, he plays low, has amazing lateral speed and demonstrates modeled form tackling.. Overshown is a head hunter that plays down hill and will punish receivers and cause turnovers. We need an expierence LB closer to the LOS, has strong leadership skills and is very coachable. Younger players need his leadership and skill set, particularly where the heat of the battle exist..Jimmy Johnson employed this at Miami and it worked greatly..
Yes, we need a guy big enough to take care of business inside. We don't necessarily need someone as fast as Gary Johnson, although it helps, just someone with a high football IQ that can clean up the plays that filter his way and not make mistakes.

Jones will be lucky to get a spot on an NFL roster. He's light years away from being the talent that DJ was and that was 15+ years ago. He's got a China man's chance in he'll of being a starter in the League.
Look bro--- we don't have NFL talent anywhere near the line of scrimmage. We have tons of it in the secondary-- but front seven--- we are sheet out of luck. Deal with it.
My prediction for the breakout player of the year on defense is going to be Overshown. This dude is a beast.
Disagree, Roach is a NFL Talent as is Ossai. I think we might have NFL talent in Keondre Coburn but I need to see more of him to get a better read. Ta'Quan Graham has a chance to be now that he will be a full-time starter. None of these guys at the moment is a 1st round talent, but they could turn into legit NFL talent but they are NFL talent. I think we have have 2 or 3 guys on the oline that are NFL talents.
Herman is a lot like Sweeney and Saban in that he has created a process that builds great football players from less talented athletes, and that is going to translate into more and more NFL talent from guys that come into the program as less heralded players.
Funny in last few practices, Orlando is cross training Johnson at Nickle. They are slowly but surely moving him closer to LOS.
When we were short of linebackers in 96 spring we were moving back up safeties to OLB for zone blitz packages. It happens.
I agree. I like Roach. I thought it was a terrible experiment early last season when they had him at OLB.
I know I have been howling on these boards for two months to move him to Rover, and I get ostracized each post. Let’s see I played FB and coached it and I am the turkey?
