SEC and Big 12

Well Steve Spurrier the great trash talker has been dissin TX lately. One time he said why was TX in the SEC. when they couldn't win the Big XII? Hate to admit it but it was funny.

So thrilled to finally be leaving this podunk league.

Still can't believe it came together exactly as I wanted. I thought for sure that we'd eventually be stuck playing Northwestern, Purdue, Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa every year.

The teams you mentioned. I just read an article about them. Basically they said that the SEC and ESPN, with backing from Disney was not about to stop with TX and OK. They're zeroing in on tOSU and MI. Let's face it bbr tOSU is at least 14 points better than the rest of the Big X with no let up in sight. They mentioned the same 5 teams you did exchanging IN for IA. When this happens it's a certainty that Rutgers, and MD will be out to. The Big X will go from 14 to 7.

You probably know this but ESPN pretty much owns the ACC. Pretty soon WF, VA, Duke, Pitt, and BC will be out to. Then the ACC will go from 14 to 7 as well.

The Pac XII is sitting in an interesting position. They have a new president who appears to be competent. Right now they don't have to do anything but the Pac XII desperately needs for SC to be great again. Out here word around the campfire is that Bowlsby is having secret meetings with Kliavkoff.

In short ESPN and the SEC are going for the throat. If you look at their history ESPN's first cash cow was college fb and everything is centered around it now. Baseball, the NFL, they're all secondary at ESPN. Today it doesn't matter if you have a great college hoops tradition and that's sad. Tradition is gone forever and while some were outdated most of them are still great and that's what made it better than the NFL.

Sad very sad

Rarely do future outcomes play out as the crowd assumes. I don't think the SEC will expand beyond the South. Texas and OU were a geographical and cultural fit. Going after B1G and Pac teams will not work well. I think Disney will be up against structural costs that make going beyond 16 a game of diminishing returns once they reach too far. It's inevitable..... Think Hitler and Napolean attacking Russia.

Edit: maybe apple or Amazon enters the rights competition for the pac? Something like this will alter the current reality.

big 12 is ****ed
Sources said the Big 12 is not currently included in discussions surrounding an alliance with other Power 5 conferences. Bowlsby told the Texas state senate on Aug. 2 that he thought there "are options for us to partner with other conferences. There may be opportunity for mergers."

The Pac XII needs to find some way, anyway to get out of their terrible tv contract. They had a terrible commissioner who put them in they're in. I hope Kliavkoff can save them.

Kind of along the same lines as what Newsome has done to California.
