Shane transferring

Fine move for him, in my opinion. He isn’t built for Herman’s offense. By next season, Sam wouldn’t be the only guy ahead of him on the depth chart.

Best of luck to Shane (as long as he’s heading out of conference). Will always be grateful for his part in the 2016 win over Notre Dame.

Hearing SMU. Gilbert route. Get a UT degree and masters from SMU. Not bad. He’s got 2 years eligibility left after redshirting this season. Best of luck to him. Great teammate.

You mentioned SMU. If anyone's interested, over the lasr 30 years SMU has made tremendous strides academically.

This is good for the young quarterbacks. Roschon and Casey can battle it out for second string behind Sam. Shane was a good teammate and I wish him the best but honestly he was just taking snaps away from the younger guys. I’m curious to see what we have in Casey and Roschon, hopefully Sam can stay healthy but his injury problems in the past lead me to believe these guys needs the reps just in case something happens to Sam.

Good Luck to Shane hope he tears it up wherever he goes as long as it isn’t against us. Great team player!

This will be the trend for transfers.
Right after your first (redshirt) year, or graduate in 3 years and have 1 or 2 years left.

We got caught in an extreme situation where all our backups fall in that situation.
Glad Thompson is staying.

As a freshman Shane threw the ball around as well as anyone I can recall in recent memory. Sitting the bench regressed his skills. If he truly was interested in getting better he should have transferred to qb U even if it meant paying his own way. Riley is THAT good.

Oh dear, the fall is going to be legendary.

I’ll admit that I was on team Buechele last year when he and Ehlinger were battling it out for the starting spot. I still had some doubts about Sam when this last season started.

He quickly changed my mind. Not just his ball skill, but his leadership. I’m man enough to admit that I was wrong.

I still like Shane, and wish him nothing but the best. I still think he’s good enough to sling the rock at Texas, but he won’t win the starting job back. Sam is the man.

I hate to see him go, but he deserves a shot to be his own man. I hope he lands somewhere he is successful and never has to line up against the Horns.

My big concern is that we are going to be thin in the QB ranks. I’ve heard a rumor that Thompson might be able to be convinced to stay as the #2.

And there are lots of super hot and super rich daddy daughters that are all there to get at bachelor's in D and a PHd in MRS.
The young women attending SMU have more ambition than attending college for what you are insinuating. I'm certain Shane has more ambition and self-respect than making life choices with those factors as a guide.

What a shallow and bigoted thing for someone to say on a public forum.

Have you ever been on the SMU campus?
