meh. bet he washes out. flaky

I think most of us will be surprised if he doesn't. But as Herman said, he has a size to athleticism ratio that no one on the team has.

I'm really pulling for him, he comes from a really bad part of Houston and I'm really hoping he can get with some good people and make the most of his opportunity.

The cloudy situation along the offensive line has to do with Patrick Hudson, who didn’t play in 2018 after being hospitalized due to a heat-related illness. The one-time Baylor signee and former Under Armour All-America selection suffered a season-ending toe injury one week into the 2016 season, missed the final 11 games of the 2017 season after suffering a torn knee ligament and Herman said the latest setback has Hudson taking some time away from the Longhorns in order to evaluate his next move.

“Patrick is currently taking some time away from the team just to kind of figure out what he wants to do moving forward and weigh all of his options,” Herman said. “The possibility of him returning to the program is certainly still on the table.”

Herman said in his LOI Day news conference that Hudson will be stepping away for the semester.
That code for "he will be over a ACC getting eligible again." It sometimes happens when guys have catastrophic injuries. Think about it---- you are separated from your team members when you're injured. They are in the film room and you're alone in the rehab pool. They are out on the practice field, you're stuck at the doctors office getting xrays. They are in the film room, you're in the weight room working on stretching your destroyed knee. Because rehab is so lengthy and demanding, while your friends are at dinner you are still in the therapy hot tub. When they leave dinner and head to study hall, you are just having your dinner--- alone. You're late to almost every class because you're on crutches. Your buddies want to go to the bar on Friday night and you try and go but you know if you get drunk and slip or fall, you risk fvcking your knee up worse and then having to explain to the coaches that you hurt yourself again because you fell down while being drunk with your buddies.
It sucks being injured and it can effect your mood, grades, social life, mental wellness in many ways.

I was reading the comments in an article on another sports site, and there was a poster who said that he’s really not as flaky as he’s been made out to be; the missed/late visits were because he couldn’t get rides. The guy talked like he knew the kid. Who knows...

I really hope he pans out. Time will tell.

I have heard that his trainer was the one who was making most of the headaches because he would say that Shepard was going somewhere and then wouldn't be available to take him knowing full well that the only way that Shepard was getting places is if FWK took him.
I have also heard that Shepard saw the recruiting process as a way to go to places that he would never have the opportunity to get to go to otherwise.
I hope the kid is able to get to Austin and keep his head on straight and avoid all the of the street agents that prey on kids like him. Here's to hoping the staff does a great job of making sure this kid is doing what he is supposed to be doing and where he is supposed to be. I hope the kid succeeds just for the simple fact that he is already outrunning the statistics for the "average" kid in his situation.
