Late last night, a few of the Texas basketball players took to Instagram to post pictures of them and senior big man Cameron Ridley.
After doing some digging, the Texas players, especially those seniors, are, obviously, excited about Ridley's recent progression. One person said he's been doing more and more on the court every day, but not a ton with the team in practice yet. Texas practices later this morning, and that will be an interesting one to follow to see how much more he does. So far, there haven't been any setbacks for Ridley, who, according to Shaka Smart during his recent Longhorn Weekly radio show on Monday, has been running, jumping, and dunking, and those are things he hadn't been cleared to do since he last played basketball in late December.
As for this week, one person indicated that there's a chance Ridley plays soon. How much of a chance? That's not known, and likely depends on how things progress today, tomorrow, and the immediate days that follow if Texas is able to advance deep into the tournament. As Smart has said before, Texas isn't going to rush him out there if he's not fully cleared and able. But it sounds like he's inching closer to getting on the court and the good news for Texas is that his return is an actual possibility this year along with there being no setbacks after the positive doctor's meeting Monday. Ridley is understandably excited - he's been a lot more active on social media lately - and wants to get back on the floor asap.
Smart meets with the media in Kansas City later this morning.
