For all the talk the entire week of the team wanting to play for Charlie and "win one for the gipper", this performance is pathetic. I remember reading the players were crying in press conferences and saying how much Charlie meant, and they knew the one way to save him was to have a good showing against TCU. This blowout loss is almost as bad as Kansas last week. Thanks Charlie, see you.

I saw something on the TV about Charlie having two wins this year against top 10 teams...Notre Dame (now a 4-7 team, no bowl) and Baylor (now a 6-4 team, about to be 6-5 after tonight).

I thought the defense played well enough to win. This team needs a QB. Shane does not have the arm for college football.

This is why you will never hear a Marine say how much they love their Drill Instructor, but every damn one of them will tell you how much they respected him.

This team needs a Drill Instructor to both break them down and build them back up as men. The talent is there, but they need someone to make them into men.

I want John Harbaugh above all, I personally don't want some coach that is going to kiss them. He might be a great coach, but this team needs balls, not kisses.

Shane will be a good one but he's not the greatest true freshman to ever grace the field in college football. He's not comfortable back there at all and looks like a chicken with his head cut off when there is any pressure. He's a spaz when he scrambles or runs. That's not a knock on the kid but rather an honest observation. He's very talented, but the second coming of Colt he is not. He could still be great. This entire team needs a healthy dose of piss and vinegar. Their attitude is definitely soft right now. They need to be listening to Pac and DMX pre game and not Drake and Kanye if you know what I mean.

I do think there is a culture problem at UT. I don't know what it is, but whoever comes in needs to figure it out. Has anyone noticed that coaches that didn't get it done here have left only to succeed elsewhere.
Brian Harsin has a nice head coaching career going.

Major is running the Houston offense and probably near the top of the list to replace Herman.

Manny Diaz running a decent defense in Miami.

It will be interesting to see how Strong and Gilbert do in their next stops. But I'm starting to think there is a deeper issue than just coaches.

Seems to me that we are being a little hard on an 18 year old. I think he's done pretty well for his age and shown some promise. Is he colt? I don't know. Has he given me some hope that has been sorely missing? Yes.

People were unsure about Colt after his 22 pick sophomore season. People are emotional to a fault

You may not want to believe it but it's true
38th in run D
21st in red zone D
16th is scoring D
46th in pass D

Not spectacular but a hell of a lot better than us in all catagories.
Not a reference to his current work. More of a comment on his work at Texas.

Yeah that's kinda my point. All these guys were under fire while they were here. Left and became successful. At some point you gotta look in the mirror I'd say.
That is a fair comment, and I appreciate your point better now.

BINGO. Too much politics and the media involved.

Funny, just about everyone on here thought Shane was the savior. So many hypocrites on this board.

I still think he is. It's not hypocritical to think someone is the second coming just because they are great on the high school level. I once believed that Vince Young would be the Michael Jordan of the NFL when he got there. What I didn't know is how un-coachable Vince was.

Shane will be a good one but he's not the greatest true freshman to ever grace the field in college football.

Most true freshmen QBs can tell their ass from a hole in the wall. Everyone of us should be grateful to Shane, was was a savior for us. Imagine if we had to endure this season without him. If you look at his numbers they could have been a hell of a lot worse.

He's very talented, but the second coming of Colt he is not.

I actually think he is better than Colt, Colt was a redshirt freshmen and they had comparable years.

Biggest issue with this place was poor coaching. Did anyone not see the improvement in the defense when Strong took over. Red was 100% correct, Strong is a much better DC than a head coach. If you want to see how all these coaches fare look at the 9 that have already been fired. I love the man, but Strong was a terrible head coach here. I don't care why he was terrible, but he was and I hope he learned for this firing and can become a better coach in the future.

Whoever we hire, I hope that person takes us to the promised land, but I'm not seeing a process that will guarantee we get the right man for the job.

Have you noticed Strong fired 8 or 9 coaches since he has been here?

Shane showed great potential early in the season. When the talk of firing of Charlie ramped up he began trying too hard and no longer showed the early confidence to bring the team back from behind. He will mature and be very good. I remember discussion on this board that Colt did not have the ability to throw the long ball. Seems like we did pretty well with him,

I think that DCs in the conference figured out how to stop Gilbert's offense and Shane got a little frustrated and tried to make things happen and that was likely the biggest cause of his poor performance late in the season. He just needs a little time.

I agree with you. The offense was pretty basic and if not for Foreman would have been even less effective. The redzone failures were unacceptable to me. The offense was so much better than anything at Texas for a few years made it look a lot better than it actually was. Yards do not mean much without POINTS.
