Junior Day is over. It was tough grabbing interviews this year because the guys left immediately following the basketball game. I'll have to work the phones tonight and tomorrow to get some more updates.
A couple notes on some guys I did talk to ...
Plano East LB Anthony Hines said he had a very good visit and he enjoyed talking to Charlie Strong, as he always does. No other visits on the schedule and he continues to take things at a slow pace. Not a lot of juicy news to report on this one.
UT tight end commitment Major Tennison said he had a great visit and he heard exactly what he wanted to hear from the new coaches, especially Sterlin Gilbert. Tennison was told the tight ends will be heavily involved in the offense, especially in the passing game, which he liked hearing. He is happy with his commitment and said he feels better about things after today, but he does plan to continue to evaluate some other programs. He mentioned Michigan as a school he'll likely visit at some point.
It was a good visit for Eno Benjamin. No offer yet but he said the visit went well overall.
Texas wide receiver commitment Damion Miller said today's visit did tighten up his commitment a bit but he is still very open to visiting other places. He said if other schools invite him to their junior days, he'll likely attend. But he did have a good visit and said his commitment is stronger after today than it was before the visit.
I talked to Jalen Maden for a couple minutes and he too enjoyed the visit. The 2018 prospect was told by the UT coaches they want to watch him throw on the field this spring and summer, but he's very high on UT's radar. He doesn't have any other visits scheduled at this point.
Again, I'll work the phones over the rest of the weekend to gather some more info on some of the other guys who were in attendance. Most of them left before we had a chance to catch them for interviews.
I did exchange a couple texts with DB Kobe Boyce. He left early because his coach had somewhere to be.
Boyce said the visit was great and he's looking forward to getting back to Austin soon.
Boyce did not get an offer but he said the UT coaches talked to his coaches about possibly offering and he thinks one will come soon.
Taquan Graham has already left as well.
He said it was a great experience to get some time with the UT coaches.
Grayson Reed just left. He said Texas is at the tops of his list and he spent the whole day with Matt Mattox.
