Now that the awkward since due to a lock thread...........I hear that we play a game this week....

What are we hearing on the D side with injuries? CJ be back on the O?

I feel a little better about this game. I think the team will rally with TH being attacked and with a shot at still playing for Big 12 Champ. I think we simply out score them.

Thoughts?

Cyclones have been pretty decent on defense.....although Baylor ran over, through and around them for over 500 yards Saturday. But only scored 14 points. West Virginia's offense only scored 7 (the other TD was the return of a blocked field goal).

ISU's top offensive threat, RB David Montgomery, will miss the first half. Was ejected from the Baylor game in the second half for fighting.

I'm really, really, really nervous about this one. This probably the best defense in the Big 12. They could definitely ruin Sam's mojo he's had going. On offense, they have a WR who's probably giggling this whole week about the prospect of charcoal covering him. I mean this guy could literally do whatever he wants against charcoal. Not feeling good about this one.

If I'm Gasser and Gordon (qb and wrs coaches) I'm licking my chops. We've got a banged up secondary, a dline that can't get pressure and a LB core that has started missing tackles.

We start the games off usually in some form of 3-3 hybrid upfront, sometimes even a 3-2-6 look. That's just begging to be run against. And teams are clocking orlando's tendencies. Think how many opening drive scores we've given up this year. I'm done begging for us to come out in a base 4-3 to start the game and adjust accordingly, because aparantly Orlando was abscent from school the day they taught the 4-3.

Iowa state will simply do to us what osu did. Then west Virginia, then Texas Tech. And we will be powerless to stop them.

Our freshman db's who started this season looking like the future, especially stearns, are now not looking anything like their USC self. And Orlando is getting away from what DOES work, when we build a lead. Allowing oklahoma to come back from 21 down was shocking. Allowing tech to come back down 17 with 7 minutes left was down right embarrassing.

Why we lax and soften our coverage in the 2nd half is just beyond me. It's almost like watching the 1991 oilers play the bills.

Tom- "Ok coach O. I've got us up by 3 scores. Now what?"
O- "Roger that! Going into prevent D mode in 3....2....1.....".

Everyone chime in on these questions please:

In what quarter do you think Texas has scored the most points and looked the most complete? In what quarter do you think Texas has been outscored in and looked terrible?

I've seen it posted just ignored it not really thinking about it but then I noticed it a few times recently and meant to ask but got all caught up in the comments. Now I know! I'm laughing my ass off. The messed up thing is I'd never call him that at a bar because it could be taken wrong.

As for the game I'm nervous but I think we bag this one as well. It might be a close one but not as close as the Tech game 30+ seconds left. :eek:

Oh yeah it would definitely be taken the wrong way in this over sensitive ass environment we're in. Oh well, at least we can still have a sense of humor here.

Did you go four years not knowing who GDDH was as well? I mean, jesus christ man, at least GDDH would blind squirrel a nut from time to time with an INT. Has Charcoal had a pick this year?

Pretty sure I was the first to type GDDH, unless you were asking drew. I just remember you knowing exactly who I meant the first time I typed that.
 
This one gonna be tough to win. I would love to get the win but I think we get beat with all the injuries. Our defense is very suspect. The only way we win, LJH is gonna have to have 5 TD's.

Fun fact--- we are 7-3 and are the beneficiaries of an offense that has only turned the ball over 6 times this year.

It's good that we only have 6 turnovers.

It's scary that we are barely eeking by people and we play almost turnover free ball.

I want to be the team with 30 turnovers that still beats teams by 50. Not realistic..... but you get my point.

Nother fun factoid--- shane hasn't slung a stinker since the two at Maryland. This tells me we are focusing on high % completion or INCOMPLETION routes. Short throws and deeeeeeep passes that can only be caught by the wr. Nothing over the middle in traffic. And the times we have thrown OTM, we've been lucky or good.

We are averaging 32 point a game, I believe, and giving up 27-28ish.

So we are dropping 32, giving up 28 and have fewer turnover than anyone not named army or UCF.

Come on fellas...... tell me you see why I'm nervous.

Preaching to the choir man. I will say this, we of course felt the same way last year after what they did to OU. We were bad, yet walked into Ames and dominated them. Hoping we get that mojo again. Not getting my hopes up though.

Not to pick nits, but last year you beat us by 10 the week BEFORE we beat OU.

We've been through half a dozen quarterbacks since then:)

Ehhhhhhhhh man..... I know the score was only 17-7 but we did pretty much dominate you. You had 10 yards rushing... you didn't even average 1 yard per carry. That's pretty dominating in my book. We also picked off your qb 3 times. And you barely had 250 yards of total offense. It may have not looked "dominant" on the scoreboard, but stat sheets don't lie.

They need to take the D and run their asses off for about every other day , then they would learn to finish strong, sometimes ya gotta do drastic things, we used to have to run the whole practice when we lost, after a while you learn..
