Texas running backs coach Tommie Robinson is leaving the program and expected to sign with USC, according to my sources. Bobby Burton was first to report the news.

Robinson's contract is going to expire at the end of this month, but he had not received an offer from Texas, according to sources. As a result, Robinson's name began circulating last week as a candidate to coach at LSU. However, it appears he will become an assistant coach at USC.

The vacancy will allowed offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert to make another hire on his staff. Gilbert came to Texas with offensive line coach Matt Mattox, and Robinson's departure will give him the opportunity to hire someone else he might be familiar with. As of right now, we do not have a list of possible replacements.

Robinson was one of Strong's original hires when he arrived in Austin. Defensive coordinator Vance Bedford, defensive backs coach Chris Vaughan and linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary are the only coaches remaining from Strong's original staff. Their contracts will expire at the end of the month, too.
