Spring Game and Recruiting

The Spring game weekend is always a big one for recruiting and that seems to be the case this weekend. Lots of big name visitors will be on campus and I think we will see quite a few offers going out. Hopefully we will also land a few commitments for the 2020 and 2021 classes.

With Texas, OU and TAMU all having spring games scheduled for Saturday, many people were looking closely at which recruits would be at what game. However, the storms rolling through Saturday am led to OU and TAMU pushing their games to Friday night instead. While some recruits were already planning to visit 2 games on Saturday, now more will have the opportunity to check out a Friday game and then the Texas game. It does look like the weather will clear up plenty early on Saturday to not interfere with the events in Austin.

Nobody seems to remember this, so I'm just gonna bring it up, since we lost Floyd, and it seems people had the hopes of the defense pinned on a true freshman.

Is Bru McCoy playing LB still an option, or has this been written off? It sure seems like now, more than ever, the need is there, and I still think he could be a great LB.

Apparently Jordan had no problem switching positions for the better of the team, as it should be, so will Bru?

That's a good question. Bru seems to be doing a great job at WR and will get PT there despite the talent and depth we have. That said, if he were to move to LB, we wouldn't really miss him at WR. I haven't heard anyone even mention this possibility lately, would be a great question for a reporter to ask Herman though.

Agreed. I don't think we'd miss him WR. Besides, with the emergence downfield threat TEs, there will be less emphasis on the slot.

Last I knew he actually wanted to play both ways. I thought that was one reason he was so high on Texas, because we wanted him to do that. Weird how we've heard nothing of it. Seems obvious to me that he's badly needed on that side of the ball. I'll be looking for that today.

Only offers the have been openly reported from today include 2021 C James Brockermeyer and 4 star 2021 OT Jonah Miller.

Miller isn't as highly ranked as some of the other OT targets but not far behind at all. He is from Arizona which is definitely becoming a pipeline state for the horns.

An offer did go out to Jalin Conyers as well. He is listed as a 4 star ATH or TE, but Warehime delivered the offer so I'm guessing the Horns are considering him for the TE role. He is already listed at 6'4-6'5 220 pounds so the size is there.
