Heard sterns is out for the season ACL. And Green is out 6 weeks. Can anyone else confirm this?

Sterns could get a red shirt. I don't see him being here 3 more years so I don't think it really matters.

With Sterns out, does Tyler Owens start getting some meaningful reps or is he a definite redshirt?

Thank you ! Saw this today...still bad but at least sterns will be back in a month ..

Injuries suck. I remember last year our starting rb who many opined may have been in the Top 2 or 3 in the nation, Rodney Anderson, was set to have a monster year and right before the RRS he goes out for the season.

Well crap. First we depleted our rb group and now our db group gets smashed. At least we are on a bye week to get better aquainted with the roster.

What's the feeling on the next 2 games now? I'm thinking WV evenly battles us until 4th qtr where we eventually open the flood gates.

Hopefully we can exploit OUs D enough to keep up with the beating our 2ndary is going to take. I remain cautiously optimistic but wouldn't bet a penny on it.

I hate it that he's injured, but I have to be honest, I don't think we miss Sterns. He hasn't impressed me at all this year. Starting to remind me of GDDH.

leading the team in tackles will be missed. Losing two corners and a safety is very bad. The young better be ready

WVU is not that great. We just beat OSU, the #3 team in the Big 12. The final score should have been 39-16. WVU may be close in the first quarter. I expect our Oline to push them off the ball and we should dominate. They will get nothing on the ground. We win.

OU is different. They still have a very potent passing offense and will score. Their offense is OSU x 2 at least. To beat OU, we will have to bottle up their running game and make them one dimensional... make them pass every down. We have had success at stopping opposing teams running game with our three man front plus and edge rusher.

Our biggest advantage against OU will be our Oline vs their Dline. We will have to get a push running the ball. Should be another great game.

I have been very critical of Sterns on here because he has had multiple chances on 3rd downs to make plays/tackles and has failed. With that said, he is still a terrific safety and will be HUGELY missed.

He has been playing at a 2nd team conference type level, which is good, but he should be playing at an AA level. That has been my gripe.

You might be whistling past the graveyard with this one. We've pretty much nuked our secondary. A secondary that looked great on paper prior to the season, but had some deficiencies on the field. Now that those guys are a non-factor, we have to turn to the back ups and expect them to not have more holes than the starters?

I don't see it. We are already hobbled on offense at the Rb position and now we are going to have steal from the WRs to find a nickel back. We might be a bit fvcked boys.

Don't be such a Debbie Downer. Coaching mistakes are our issue, atm. We need to be aggressive but not to the point of stupid.

Chris Adimora and Kenyatta Watson are complete studs. Excited to see them play. We will have BJ Foster and Demarvion Overshown back for WVU.

Go to 2:33:00 to watch an Adimora pass defense.

Overshown and Foster coming back will be huge.

Chris Adimora I think can make plays.

Also, S - Chris Brown has been making plays all over the place

It's a scary and undesired prospect, but I'm not ready to write these guys off yet.

Remember when we all freaked out about the LB play? Well, Jeffrey McCulloch and Joseph Ossai have been terrific. And now Juwan Mitchell is starting to come around.

Yeah, do reeeeeeaaly want Ou to be passing every down? That doesn't exactly give me a warm fuzzy right now.

The timing of these injuries is at least somewhat of a silver lining. Both Thompson and Tillman can take a redshirt since they only played 4 games so far this year.

Missing Sterns and Green should only hurt our chances of a win against OU and that is a game we were predicted to lose anyways. We should be more than capable of beating WVU, Kansas and TCU without those two. So while I of course prefer to go 4-0 in this stretch, 3-1 even when fully healthy was the most likely outcome.

There is another bye week after the above 4 game stretch and hopefully we can be back to full health for the final 4 game stretch - K State, Baylor, Tech and Iowa State. All of these are games we should win but could lose if we don't bring our A or B game.

Yes, if we have a team throwing 80% of the time they are playing catch up, unable to run on our front 6, and one dimensional. If they can't run, we have a great chance to win. We aren't going to be perfect but our offense with Collin Johnson is tough to stop as well.

Adimora made a play but wasn't he out of position? If the throw was better it would have been a TD to a wide open receiver.

You know what, **** OU. We can beat them anytime we walk on the field. We proved that last year. It's like any other big game...you have to execute and make big plays. Last year in the CCG, #6 for OU came off the corner and made that play. That is what turned the game.

Against LSU, we blitzed on 3rd and 17 and LSU made a play. We were finger tips from getting the onside and driving for a game tying TD.

We're not quite back, but we're damn close.

Agreed and still think we can win it with these injuries. Heck everyone has injuries to deal with.

My point was more so that our predicted win percent maybe goes from 33% to 25% (totally made up numbers) while the other 3 games stay very winnable despite the injuries - say 80% down to 75%. It's better that these guys are out for these 4 games and not the last 4 were the margin is thinner between a win and loss.

Actually, in the CCG there were all the ghost pass interference calls against Texas, 2 Texas TD's called back, and numerous non PI calls against OU db's. The fix was in...

It was bad against OSU as well. Something needs to be done about this.

I quoted numbers from S&P+ earlier but I must say the guy is completely wrong on Texas and the Big 12. He had us at 6.7 wins this year and the Big 12 as the 4th best conference. These predictions are laughable. Many of the posters on Surly troll this guy on twitter ad naseum. It's really quite funny.

He's actually moved us up to 19, one spot behind aggy, lulz. He has the Big 12 at 2 behind the SEC. The B12 is probably the best conference.

I'm not being a Debbie downer bud, I'm simply saying that there is cause for concern. Remember-- when I see good things or have good news, I call it like I see it. And when I see problematic areas or cause for concern, I do the same-- call it like I see it.

I'm seeing potential problems and I'm simply not going to sugar coat it and hope for the best. They need to prove it on the field.

Our team last year broke S&P. Too many bad losses mixed with dominant wins (in truth) that ended up not looking dominant on paper (see UGA). This is a challenge with many formula based ranking systems. Based on the stats we should have won 8.3 games but we won 10 instead. This was the biggest differential of any school (tied with ND).

So, did we win more games than we should have last year? Or did we just statistically underperform in those wins? I'd say we statistically underperformed but earned the wins - many convincingly - without the stats to back it up.

I dunno. That throw was right on target. The WR was there waiting for the ball to come right to him. Adimora made a great leap in the direct path of the ball. He was completely in the right spot to make that play.
