Not sure he will but he should. Dude would get owned in the league right now. Will he pass up the short term money for long term success though? He'd be one the few who did.Y'all see the monster dunk tonight by JA?? Please stay another year...or two!
Yep. That's why Allen should stay another year. Guy gets pushed around in college a lot.Carter of WV is a damn good player. I wish Texas was more physical.

Matter of opinion. I personally think so. Competition may be slightly better in the d league in some cases but more high profile games in college.I don't follow basketball that much, but would staying another year in college be better for development than playing in the NBA D league?

Oh yeah for sure. Especially with Texas. Shaka is one of the best player development coaches out there. The recored hasn't shown it this year but the players have improved. Coach Horn is one of the best big man coaches around to.I would guess overall the competition is better in the d league, but depending on what college you are at the coaching may be a step down.
Jarret Allen will never step foot in the D-league.
Ive never understood the argument that a guaranteed top 20 pick should stay another year in college to "develop". Is it not common sense that a kid is going to develop quicker when he's able to devote 100% of his time to basketball rather than going to class and having regulated / limited practice time with his coaches? And isn't it financially intelligent to develop your game with millions in your pocket rather than nothing?
NBA players are making their money on their second and third contract, not the first. The sooner they can get there the better.
Would I like to see him in a Longhorn uniform next year? hell yes.
Is that best for him and his family? No way. It's a no brainer.
Being a top 20 pick doesn't really matter if 3 years later your out of the league. There are a lot of guys who would of had better careers if they stayed in college another year.Jarret Allen will never step foot in the D-league.

That is a good point. However, if it were my 18/19 year old child, I wouldn't be crazy about him hanging around grown men in the party and women lifestyle that is a part of the professional athlete culture. There is plenty of partying in college, I know, but, to me it is different. I think that an extra year in college to mature physically and mentally would be better in the long run. The dollars have a lot to do with it but, it isn't everything.Jarret Allen will never step foot in the D-league.

He is sooooo skinny. Fran Fraschilla pointed out last night that he would advise him to go pro for the money, but his development would be enhanced by another year of college. I agree. He's got talent, but he needs a weight room. BTW - best 'fro/headband combo since the '70's.That is a good point. I agree with pretty much every thing you said. Every player is different in maturity, family structure and financial situation. There is no wrong choice because the player and family will make a better choice than any of us. I was just pointing out that if it were my child and my reasons supporting that decision. You are allowed to get stronger in the NBA. It's not as if college has a monopoly on strength training. The mental maturity is a real concern, but no one other than those very close to him have enough insight to judge either way on that front. Our arguing about a specific players mental maturity is pointless because none of us possess the necessary information.
It is a tough decision. But, speaking of baseball, I read the book "Moneyball" a few years ago. Billy Beane regretted for many years not going to Stanford, in spite of the money. That scenario is probably not very common, but, something to think about. Regardless, things turned out well for ole Billy. It would be very difficult to turn down millions of dollars regardless of if you could get a little bit better the next year. Same issue with college baseball, I am always amazed at when top talent decide to go to college when you can be an overnight millionaire. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but I've never been anywhere close to having to make that decision.
Some of the constant stupid stuff is I think on some of the players. They have had some cases of immature behavior off the court. Mack has been suspended twice(probably done at UT) Roach was suspended once. Coaches can coach you up you have to be open to coaching. This is probably just a bad year. Got some talented guys coming in next year. And some interesting guys returning.I was really excited about Shaka when we hired him and after last season as well, but I'd be lying if I said this season hadn't shaken my faith in his coaching abilities. Our players do the same stupid sh*t every f*cking game. I'm well aware that we're really young, missing a true PG, and lacking in depth (Shaka's questionable decision to leave so many scholarships unfilled, by the way), but some sort of growth should be evident at the very least. Too many of our players are just as undisciplined today as they were at the start of the season. I didn't expect us to be good this year, but we shouldn't be 10-18 (soon to be 10-22) bad either.
Hope he can turn it around next year.

It's unfortunate to because Mack was getting better and looked like he was going to have a big year.
Gamecock fan here. We recruited Mack hard. What happened to him? Weed?
Weed's just one part of it. Doesn't attend class. Throws temper tantrums at his coaches -- in front of the team. Recruits other players to join him in violating team rules. Just an all-around locker-room cancer.
Is he transferring or coming back? I haven't really kept up with things because I thought he was only on indefinite suspension-not for the whole season. It's unfourtanite for Mack. Shaka brought him to Texas with him from VCU. After an up and down freshman year he really looked like he was poised to be a star this year. Gotta be mature though. It will be interesting to see where he winds up. If you can't play for Shaka hard to see you finding a coach you could play for.
The university gave him his release. From Shaka's comments though he was basically kicked off the team.Is he transferring or coming back? I haven't really kept up with things because I thought he was only on indefinite suspension-not for the whole season.
Yeah. It does open a scholarship for Shaka for a recruit or maybe a transfer.Too bad we wasted a lot of good minutes on him when many of our other young players could have benefited.
