Welcome back Fall baseball.
Last Sunday saw the new look Horns play 14 innings against the Houston Cougars, a game in which they got started early and dominated. Am I advocating that Texas is going to run the table in 2023, absolutely not. The Horns still have quite a few questions to answer and lineup battles to settle. The good news is that they came out locked in and took advantage of bad pitches and transparently, a Houston team that just is not very good.
Against San Jacinto Junior College, the Horns will look to continue to put together quality at-bats, continue to develop the infield communication and put in the work. San Jac has long been one of the top tier JUCOs in the game, having won 5 national titles and 27 trips to the JUCO world series. In addition, San Jac regularly puts a large number of players into the D1 ranks, including two pitchers currently playing at Texas (DJ Burke and Chris Stuart). All that said, San Jac is still a JUCO that is working to integrate a slew of new players as well.
What I am looking for during this scrimmage.

- Galvan - after missing some time earlier this fall with illness, how does the bat look and what is his comfort level behind the plate
- INF communication under Mitch Daly
- Is O'Dowd getting quality ABs
- Continued development and acclimation to college pitching by freshman Jalin Flores and Jared Thomas
- DC getting acclimated to RF
