Tech tried to surprise OSU with an onside pooch kick last week and the up-man for the Pokes smartly waved for a fair catch. Tech defender was watching the ball the whole time and caught it, celebrated, only to get flagged for kick-catch interference. Pokes ball. ST coach had them ready. OSU was buttoned up, which helped them win that game.

So Jeff Banks, who is regarded as one of the best (if not the best) special teams coaches in the country is not smart? Doesn't prepare?

Only works if you don’t bounce the ball twice which is what makes an onside kick so unpredictable I think OSU just popped it up short

these soccer style kickers are so damned accurate these days I always wondered what would happen if the kicker just picked out a lineman and tried to drill him? Those guys are not there because of good hands. If it bounces off of him who knows what might happen....
