Yesterday I made a post with the percentage of times the defense brought pressure in each half vs TCU. Those numbers are below for reference. Below that will be the KSU Numbers.

vs TCU
  • 1st Half - 27 Snaps
  • Pressure - 11 times or 40.7%
  • No Pressure - 16 times or 59.3%

  • 2nd Half - 39 Snaps
  • Pressure - 11 Times or 28.2%
  • No Pressure - 28 Times or 71.8%
vs KSU
  • 1st Half - 31 snaps
  • Pressure - 12 times or 38.7%
  • No Pressure - 19 times or 61.3%

  • 2nd Half - 40 snaps
  • Pressure - 14 times or 35%
  • No Pressure - 26 times or 65%
Seems fairly equal on paper but here's some interesting numbers. After we go up 27-7 here is how those numbers looked when KSU began their first scoring drive at 4:13 to go in the 3rd quarter through the end of regulation.

  • 26 snaps
  • Pressure - 6 times or 23.1%
  • No Pressure - 20 times or 76.9%
What it means is that we had shut KSU out through roughly the first 11 mins of the 3rd quarter bringing pressure 57.1% of the time and not bringing pressure 42.9% of the time. Or we had KSU limited to 7 points through the first 2-3/4 quarters of the game bringing pressure 44.4% of the time.

Again, these late collapses do not excuse the poor execution by the offense on the other side of the ball. But the data seems to indicate that if we are going to lay back and try to play coverage, we are going to be gutted. Here's to hoping the defense continues to bring extra defenders against both run and pass.
