The Texas GOP must know they're in trouble if they are trying to propose BS amendments like this.
The proposed amendment would require any candidate for statewide elections to win the majority of counties in the state in addition to the popular vote in order to win office. In other words, the winner would have to win the majority of the vote in 128 counties AND win the popular vote in order to win the office.
Given that the majority of Democrats reside in 10 counties which also happen to be 60% of state's overall population, this effectively makes it impossible for a Democrat to win a state wide election.
There's no reasonable justification for this change other than preventing Democrats for winning statewide elections. If it passes, it will certainly get challenged in court and get overturned.
