I'm not going to make it to SA. I usually go when it's in Houston. One of my best friends, who gets me a media pass, does all of the credentials for the UIL and has covered HS sports for about 30 years. I've been fortunate to meet quite a few great HS and college coaches over the years at the HS coaches convention.
So they still have the Franka clinic or is that long gone? So many coaching legends spoke there and it was free for fans who wanted to attend and wanted to get coaches autographs and sometimes they could attend sessions.
I haven't been a High School Coach since 2010. There will however be 10,000+ coaches in town for Coaching School. Don't be surprised if you see ISD vehicles in close proximity to the strip clubs.
I don't go anymore. I was the coach everyone got mad at because I would take my wife sometimes.
College coaches go all the time. Heck, many of the learning seminars are hosted by college coaches.
Yeah I went for 6 years. Nike sponsored quite a few big name coaches to come speak. I remember being blown away by Ralph Fredigen talking offense and Frank Beamer talking about special teams. However the read deal is the Angelo Football Clinic if you want to really learn something about football.
I heard the marquee speaker this year is Coach Fauci to discuss the benefits of incorporating N95 masks into football helmets

Funny you should say that. I have it on pretty good authority that Miss Texas is supposed to be there.

Trust me when I tell you-- you do NOT want to miss this.

I remember once that one in Ft Worth had " Welcome Coaches" on one of their big signs!
I can remember years ago that one of the most popular booths was a weight training one. Had 2-3 pretty, in shape models passing out info and demonstrating the machines.

Just a heads up-- we have RSVPs from over 250 HCs and ADs in the state and word got out to the college coaches-- we have 8 D1 HCs so far that are coming by. Yes, you know all of them. If any of your crew will be in SA, let me know and I'll get them an invite.
Met-Rx girls in Houston. They were talked about for years. I swear the guy at ProMaxima guy would hire strippers to hand out flyers
The new Miss Texas gets crowned Sunday. She will be at our party. Got to keep it *classy*.
$10 says she’s requiring all of you stay a minimum of 6’ away from her due to “Covid concerns”. Can’t say I blame her

The Franka Football clinic is no longer, but SA hosts the Alamo City Football Clinic which might have taken it's place. And of course, SA hosts the THSCA convention when it's their turn.

The THSCA is a pretty cool experience. I've been to several of them. Lots of stuff to see and hear.
Interesting. No I had not heard that. I’m surprised that the Athletic director Streety is still around. He was the football coach at New Braunfels back when Thurman Thomas and Willowridge ran wild on us back in the mid 80’s. Had a lot of wins as a head coach but couldn’t ever win the big one. He and Kingsbury’s dad left in the 90’s to coach and Madison in SA before returning to NB
