Texas vs A&M in the Advocare Texas bowl?

I was really hoping to avoid the "Texas A&M is scared to play (fill in blank) Big 12 opponent" in the Texas Bowl. But here we are again.

I disagree that TAMU is scared of anyone in the Big 12 but I guess its good entertainment. Regardless if you agree with this concept the fact has been that the Big 12 participant in the Texas Bowl gets butt raped consistently by the SEC participant.

That's not the narrative, they were positioned to play two years ago and the SEC heads chose otherwise. They know how to play chess/bowl matchups.

It's not even they play chess ad we play checkers, it's more they play chess and we play tic-tac-toe.

The SEC was able to negotiate with their bowl partners so they can set the match ups they see as most favorable. Every other conference allows the bowls to select based on a specific order. They usually take the next highest ranked teams. Big 12 goes CFB, New Years Bowl, Valero Alamo
Russell Athletic, AdvoCare V100 Texas, AutoZone Liberty, Cactus, Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl

I'm talking about SEC bowl selections for teams that finish 3rd or worse and how they have it set up. You can basically figure it out every year, but they always throw you for a loop at the bottom.

Texas is still a threat so they will likely pair a Texas match up with a much better opponent than aggsy. Like LSU.

Bama will be in CFB, If LSU wins out they will most likely be in the Sugar vs OU or is this one of the years where the Sugar is a semi final?

Might as well play. Neither team is good, at least we could have fun debating who is worse for a month. Depressing.

Aggy will play in the sugar bowl as of right now and the opponent will be gooners. Even if aggy loses against lsu they will still be in the sugar bowl

College Football Playoff projections
Bowl Date Location Matchup
Peach Bowl Dec. 31 Atlanta, Ga. (1) Alabama vs. (4) Ohio State
Fiesta Bowl Dec. 31 Glendale, Ariz. (2) Clemson vs. (3) Washington

Texas A&M, No. 4 in the first CFP Rankings, took one on the chin, though, falling at Mississippi State and possibly losing quarterback Trevor Knight in the process. The Aggies' problems in Starkville go beyond Knight's injury, and backup Jake Hubenakplayed reasonably well. The good news for the Aggies is that they are done playing on the road. If they can beat LSU in the season finale, they should still get to the Sugar Bowl.

Well aggy needs to beat lsu then

Now I can get behind playing Arkansas. What I wouldn't give for an opportunity for my Horns to put a beatdown on fat boy.

I'd like to play against A&M - I don't understand all yall going against it. It's rivalry, it's hatred, dammit it's college football.

A&M's usual excuse it that hey have nothing to gain from playing Texas, that simply being in the SEC and winning gives them more recruiting advantage than beating us would. I'd say as of February 2016 that excuse was pulled off the table. They could gain a lot of Texas recruiting momentum with a win against UT.

I think they'd kick our ass, but I'd still like to play them. Even if the tables were turned, where we're kinda good and they suck, I'd still like to play them.

It's been fun to say "we said we wouldn't play you, so we're not playing you" for the last few years, but it's time to end the hiatus and get back to what's better for the fans and for college football in general. Make football great again.

F'em, let them live in their filth.

I like watching them get crushed by the SEC elite and watching us garner all the top talent in the state. This year was their best chance, next year their DE will be gone along with a few other top talents and they don't have the backups to fill the void.

In other words, back to business as usual.
