Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond is calling for the removal of the controversial on-campus statue of former A&M president Lawrence Sullivan Ross.

The statue, known as “Sully,” has been on the campus since 1919. Ross, a brigadier general in the Confederate Army, a Texas Ranger and the 19th governor of Texas, was A&M’s president from 1891 to 1898. The statue has been a source of contention in College Station, with thousands signing a petition calling for the statue’s removal and thousands of others signing a petition for it to stay. There were protests for and against the statue’s removal on campus over the weekend.

Additionally, Mond said the values of Texas A&M “do not align with RACISM, VIOLENCE, SLAVERY AND SEGREGATION” and reiterated his stance that the statue should be removed.

“Texas A&M University, I NEED to see ACTION,” Mond wrote.

Wonder uf he's gonna win more games if he gets action? This craps getting outa hand, Eagles , Chubby, and now Mond, all we need now is a Waterboy to showup/////// I wonder if these guys are conna run for Office?

Emotionally, I like cheering for my old school team. I remember the early 60s when the Cowboys and Texans couldn't attract enough fans to break even. When the crowd at the pro football games was pretty rough. That said, perhaps the college teams should "look like" the student body. Which might make room for minor league football. Why does Texas have so many $100 million + high school football stadiums?

At the rate it is going, in a decade the NFL will be nothing more than a business school case study on how to systematically destroy a multi-billion dollar business. If there is no longer the possibility of big paydays what would drive the HS/college athletes to continue to play football then unless something else takes its place?

Used to be a time when I couldn't go 5 minutes without thinking about something football related, or basketball related. Now it all looks like foolishness. I don't know if I can ever go back. I stopped watching the NFL when the Oilers left Houston, I felt betrayed, now I feel the same way about all sports.

Why waste my time and money.

I am planning to hunt, fish, garden, and build my businesses more by going back to the 6 day work week every week. I will be including the kids in this so they can learn entrepreneurship. I can always listen to the game on the radio while working but my stomach turns a little while thinking about it.

Normally I would laugh at Aggy but this all sucks. Especially the protest from our own players about the Eyes of Texas. These kids are just trying to be "offended" and I say to them GO AWAY. I am done with their bs ploy to extract money for anarchist groups and act better than thou. Just finished watching the '11 game on LHN. That NEVER gets old seeing Texas kick aggy to the curb!
