Don't disrespect this thread.

Kim Mulkey and Karen Aston HATE each other. Baylor and UT are both already ranked nationally in the top 4 in Women's Hoops headed into the season. And now they both just announced their recruiting classes.

BU finished with the No. 1 class in the nation, with the nos. 4, 8, 15, 18 and 28 ranked players in the country. One problem - the tallest is a 6'3" post. Why is that a problem? Because the Lady Horns got the No. 2 class in the country, with the nos. 2 and 12 ranked players in the country, standing 6'5" and 6'7".

Let the fun begin!

I like the premise, but any list that doesn't have UConn in the top 20 makes me question the validity...I know its a numbers thing, but still

The Horns just snagged a recruit from UConn as well. Committed to UConn recently decommited and committed to Texas. That’s huge. Karen Aston and the University of Texas are the future of women’s basketball.

In all fairness - one of the websites I read said UConn signed no one, had one scholly available and were in the hunt for a top 10 player. They aren't going any where as long as Geno is breathing.

I don't really follow women's basketball, but why do Mulkey and Aston "hate each other"? From tidbits that I've heard about Mulkey and just watching her on TV, she seems like a real biatch.

Yeah. Geno is the best... he often gets downgraded in ways because he coaches women, but I have very little doubt if he went to coach men he’d do fine. He ovbiously wouldn’t have as good a recored because the competition is better, but I have no doubt he’d compete for championships.

Aston was an assosate head coach at Baylor in 06-07. So not sure why they don’t like each other but I’ve heard they don’t. Might have to do with recruiting tactics. That’s why Geno and Pat Summit relationship soured.

There is not a bigger competitor around than Mulkey. She's been the queen bee of this conference for 15 years, and now there is an "upstart" who is putting up quite a challenge. In one of their first games, BU was up by 15 and Mulkey called off the dogs with less than 2 minutes to go. Aston went to a full court press against the backups and scored 6 or 8, forcing Mulkey to put the starters back in. I guess that's like those unwritten rules in baseball, but regardless Mulkey had some choice words in the press conference. There are also whispers that Aston tells parents of recruits not to send their daughters to BU because of danger of sexual assault. I would guess Mulkey has a hard time being friendly to the competition. Regardless - Mulkey is our Mayfield - if you are an opponent, I can certainly see how she would fry your nerves. But she's ours, and she's the greatest.

We had a guy who would show up to our tailgates every weekend that we used a similar saying for...he's an idiot, but he is our idiot.

I think it's the competition thing and also I think there's a bit of past "personal" history between the two. Rumors mostly.
