I took the liberty of analyzing the HC’s from the Power 5 schools in order to try and determine if any of them would meet some of the requirements that a number of our posters believe are necessary in order to be our HC. The following is a list that includes each coaches W-L record in their first 3 years and the position they occupied prior to getting their first Power 5 coaching job.

Dabo Swinney 19-15 Coordinator for school they HC

David Cutcliffe 22-13 Coordinator

Jimbo Fisher 31-10 Coordinator for school they HC

Paul Johnson 25-14 Head Coach Navy

Bobby Petrino 23-15 Head Coach Louisville

Mark Richt 32-8 Coordinator

Larry Fedora 21-17 Head Coach Southern Miss

Jim Grobe 18-18 Head Coach Ohio

Bill Snyder 13-20 Coordinator

Bob Stoops 31-7 Coordinator

1. Must have prior Power 5 Conference HC experience.

There are a combined 7-8 NCs on that list, but none of the coaches on this list would have met that requirement prior to getting their first Power 5 job.

2. Must have Prior HC experience of any kind.

Paul Johnson 25-14 Head Coach Navy

Bobby Petrino 23-15 Head Coach Louisville

Larry Fedora 21-17 Head Coach Southern Miss

Jim Grobe 18-18 Head Coach Ohio

Gary Patterson 23-15 Team added to Power 5 through Expansion

Dana Holgorsen 18-20 Team added to Power 5 through Expansion

Jim Harbaugh 17-20 Head Coach San Diego

Mark Dantonio 22-17 Head Coach Cincinnati

Urban Meyer 31-8 Head Coach Utah

A lot of the names on this list have been kicked around in the past. Look at those names and what their records were over their first 3 seasons.

Of course, I don’t think he’s the type of Coach to run around kissing booster’s a$$, so he’s probably out.

Sorry but all of these guys have lost MULTIPLE, I repeat MULTIPLE games. I'm out on all of them. Everybody back to the drawing board.

Can we just stop all this talk about a new coach and let the current coach finish the season? He has a chance to finish on a high note.

I won't mention the guy that went 8-24-1 during his first 3 years as a coach in a Power 5 conference.

One criteria that is important to me is that the HC holds the line on the Core Values. It is Charlie's thing, but, if there happens to be a new coach, I would love for that person to continue with the Core Values.

Are you being sarcastic?

Are you being sarcastic?
No. With all of the Charlie bashing, I can see where you may think that. That is why said, "if" there happens to be a new coach. In this day and age, that would be simply one of the criteria I would like to have.
