Ewers isn't as good as advertised....... yet. But it looks like he will be. His arm strength is easily identifiable. The kid can throw it. He had some jitters early-- freshman jitters-- and that's 100% ok. He had some deep overthrows-- again-- freshman butthole puckering happens. But if any of you saw it, he completed a 15 yard out that he threw better than anyone I've seen in burnt orange-- Chris Simms included. He let that fvcking ball go with MINIMAL effort and that leather bullet had a contrail on it.
That's what you HAVE to have to run this offense. And after years of watching wounded ducks and skip passes and fluttering quails on out routes, we've got a guy that doesn't even have to STAND ON IT, and effortlessly throws the deep out with as much arc as a 12 inch ruler.

We have a QB.

Our backfield is as loaded as it has been in a dozen years. Bijan is legit. He's a little better version of Jamaal Charles. He's a pure slasher. He doesn't have Cedricks center of gravity or Ricky's pure power, but he can stick his foot in the ground and cut on a dime and leave you a Krugerrand in change. The kid has scoots and shakes and balance-- if we get him the rock in the open field, watch out. We need to avoid pounding him down. He isn't built for 25 times a game between the tackles. He's an Indy car. Not a dune buggy.

Our Oline is young. Real young. Terribly young. ULM isn't very good but their twists and zone blitz fooled us a time or two. Bama will see this and dial that up on the reg. Only they won't be sending a 215 pound LB that runs a 4.7. Nope. It'll be a 260 pound LB screaming at 4.5 with the intent of sending someone to the morgue.
Give these kids a couple more years and you might end up with a line like Georgia one day. But they need to grow up-- most Ricky-tick.

We've got speed on the edge-- but I need to see more before I can get a feel.
Defense-- the jury is still out.
We are going to get a REALLY good look at who we are in 6 days.

I saw that throw from Ewers and thought wow, that was an NFL throw. We haven’t had a QB that could make that type of throw in a very long time. Ewers just flicks the ball and it comes out like a rocket.
He is special.

I agree with most everything you wrote. I do disagree a little in that I don’t think we will know anything about this team even next week. Alabama is just on a different level. We could get blown out 52-7, and still go on to win 9-10 ball games. On the flip side of that if the boys played out of their mind, and caught a couple breaks and somehow pulled the upset I’m not sure it means anything for the rest of the season. I don’t think we will really know what this team is till after the tech and maybe WVU game. I’m just gonna enjoy the game next week. The result is almost completely irrelevant to the rest of the season.

I thought his best throw of the night was that little post route to Sanders in the second half. He threw that ball exactly where it had to be in between a safety and the corner. The corner had good position on Sanders but there’s no defense for a well placed ball like that one. I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to have a QB that isn’t limited throwing the ball outside the hashes.

Speaking of Sanders, that dude is a freak. He's going to have a monster season this year and is going to be a nightmare to cover and tackle. It's about time that we had a legit TE.

This is not going to be a blowout.
If it’s not then I’ll be pleasantly surprised. If our defense was a little better and Quinn was more experienced I would feel more confident. I just don’t think we have the horses to keep up with Bama. If we keep it within 14 points I will consider that a win. This is one of the best Bama teams of Nick Saban’s time at Bama.

Yeah it is one of his better teams it seems One thing to follow… I kinda think especially if he wins it all this year this might be it for Saban this year. Just a hunch.

Having a legit TE threat like that opens up a whole separate element of the offense.

That was a great throw. He put it right where he needed to, in stride, right on the money. And it was a tight ball. But that out route- I promise you, every CB in the conference saw that, rewound it about 8 times and thought "well, sh!t......".

Umm, he just signed an 8 year contract extension that goes through 2030. I don’t think he’s going anywhere lol. The man lives to coach.

At this point, the only way he stops coaching is if the Bama admin and boosters force him out, and I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

I think it will be a game that Texas comes out and throws its best punch and hangs with them for a while and then the battle of the line of scrimmage will start to wear them down. They have too much depth on the lines and can just wear you down. I could see a close game at half and then a slow pull away in the 2nd half. I see about a 14-17 point win for Bama. I don't see a 50-10 type of game. I think Bama will get better and better through the year much like that LSU Burrows team did. Bama always breaks out all their new 5 star toys and it takes them a bit to settle in.

A lot of times they just do the extensions to shut off any chatter of retirement for recruiting purposes, so I’m not sure that really makes a difference. I could be wrong, but I don’t see Saban coaching to almost 80 years old, the program falling off(it always does at the end) and being what JoePA and Bowden were at the end which was basically more of a mascot than coach. Just don’t see him doing that. I seen him as a guy who would want to go out on top.

I don’t see Saban retiring anytime soon either. The guy is THE best college coach of all time. He is insanely driven. He lives and breathes recruiting and practice. Can’t really compare him to JoePa or Bowden, he is on a different level than them.

When I saw Terry Bowden last night, something caught my attention, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. As I watched a little bit of last night's replay, the revelation came to me. Warden Norton was coaching ULM.

Yeah idk. I think College football is changing in ways that are going to make it harder to dominate in the fashion that he has. The UGA has closed the gap, the transfer portal and NIL make it harder to stack your depth chart with 5 stars, the SEC is going to get tougher with Texas and OU coming in and Sark is recruiting at an elite level, and now with playoff expansion you are going to have to win more games. Be interesting to see how long(if at all) Saban wants to try to compete in that changing landscape.

You are being obtuse
