I think the comments Sarkisian made about Murphy is meant to light a fire under him.

From watching the spring game again the other day I thought Ewers pocket presence was better than Cards. That and he always kept his eyes downfield. Those 2 things are key.

But you are right, throwing against a scout team that you know can’t hit you is totally different than throwing against a defense that is looking to knock your head off.

I keep thinking that Maalik Murphy was an elite recruit out of a top 5 recruiting class. Now that he's healthy he's starting to show something. I want to wait and see.

Elite means a top 30 prospect basically. Malik was like the 180th ranked prospect overall so I wouldn’t say he was elite. He was just extremely raw and had to miss a whole year and a half that impeded his development. He’s got tons of upside. Still think Ewers has more but as far as arm talent Malik is right there with him.

I want to say he missed 2 years. One for an injury and then another because of the Covid year. I’m not completely sure about that but I thought that’s what I had read.
