I have a lot of hot opinions about the national anthem and the way we do it. In my opinion, we've made it into a performance and not sure it has much meaning when sung outside of that. Everyone has different preferences of styles and their own opinion if it was "good" or not and to me that misses the point entirely.
I've thought for some time, that when we do the National Anthem at sporting events, we should do it like they do at most international soccer games and play canned music and let the crowd sing.
Now I think there is a middle ground that has been awesome to watch up in Edmonton. Clearly the dude can sing, but also apparent is that the crowd is an active participant.
Making this version a bit easier is that I think Oh Canada is just a much better song than the Star Spangled Banner, but that's not the point at the moment.
