I know everybody wants to know who I predict will win the nc. I know for a fact that people read what I say, go to Vegas and bet on the other team, and make a nice piece of change. It's not easy to live up to but I manage.
The Pac XII which has been awful the last few years is going to make a big comeback this year. There are some good coaches and believe it or not a couple great coaches as well. So.....
The biggest problem those Oregon teams had was they were finesse teams. Willie Taggart brought some toughness the one year he was there and Oregon hired from within and named Mario Cristobal who will bring more of the same. Don't let his previous w/l record fool you he is the right man for the job.
Did Chip Kelly catch lightning in a bottle while he was at Oregon? At UCLA he won't the resources, the kind of support that he had at Oregon. I'm going to wait and see.
I've said it before and I'll say it again Mike Leach is a con man.
I've mentioned it the last day or so but Kevin Sumlin is in the same position he was in his first year at the cow college. An AA caliber qb, and not just a favorable conference schedule but a non con schedule that would make Art Briles proud. I predict AZ will win the Pac XII south.
SC is SC. So far Clay Helton has met the Trojan standard can he keep it going as long as he's there they will settle for nothing less. But they lost a lot of players especially on offense. They have to play Stanford and Texas back to back in September. I can see them going 9/3.
Finally you have Washington and Stanford. We were talking last month about top ten coaches and agreed on four of them. I brought up Chris Petersen and David Shaw and most of us agreed they should be on the list. I've already said that I think Bryce Love will win the Heisman. If they can beat SC and ND in September then we could have a battle of unbeatens when they play WA on 11/3. ST kind of reminds me of TX the year Ricky won the Heisman. They're a good team but with BL they are a NY6 team. Besides a ST guy has finished second in the Heisman balloting 5 time in the last 9 years they're overdue.
I talked about it last month and I think WA will win the nc this year. Everything is in place a solid qb and rb. They have the kind of secondary TX had our nc winning season deep and talented and athletic. They will play Auburn next week and at UT on 9/15. Win those two then the showdown against ST is on.
Of course if Auburn wins I will have egg on my face. Damn, I just got all the egg off my face from last year the other day lol.
