We are Underdogs to TCU! Well, hell knew that was going to happen, i would hate to see the line on Ames and Waco, if changes are not made, this will be a suicide run for us..or it could be good...I think this will be a make it or Break it for Herman..I think the Big Guys have already started silently shopping as they don't like to lose either, paying Herman off with our stockpiles not the would not be a problem, but, I do think that some of the Big Guys realized now that Herman's not the one and just sitting on it for a while....

The losses aren't over this year, guys. I think Texas will lose at least two, and very well could lose three more games. If that happens, it'll be interesting to see what kind of pressure is put on Herman to make changes on his staff. Orlando, Beck, Hand and McKnight are guys who could be on the chopping block. Herman be back next year, but a five-loss team will ratchet up very uncomfortable pressure on him and the UT brass to consider changes. Thing is, IF at some point after next season Texas wanted to make a change, there aren't many coaches out there with proven track records that are realistically available. Our best hope is for Herman to make it work. I don't think that he's the guy to take Texas to the promised land, and if he's not that guy, who is?

They oughta get Admiral William McRaven to go down there and get their asses lined up on the PT and playing hard till the end of the game ...! He won't listen to excuses I guarantee that!

What would kind of suck for the fans that aren’t sold on Herman and staff is for Texas to eek out wins the rest of the year or lose maybe one and then everyone gets retained and it starts all over again next year, theoretically. If you want coaching change you kind of have to hope for 3 or 4 more loses imo, which is hard to do for fans.

Is McConaughey an option? The players and coaches seem to gravitate to him:D My vote is for the Undertaker, did he go to UT?

last year aftyer maryland somebody said it was a given that we'd start 0-6. the defense needs serious work. the o-line needs some work. but pressing the panic button is foolish. y'all need to calm down

I'm not done with Herman yet...he can still change my mind but I'd take Josh Heupel in a heart beat. It'd be interesting if he would consider Texas.

Other than that it is slim pickens unless you cash whip someone away...Malzahn, Franklin or Shaw. Big 12 has some quality coaches to steal, but I'm not sure they'd make the move (Rhule, Campbell). Then you have the small school names (Harsin, Litrell, Whittingham and Fleck). Smart, Dabo, etc. aren't going anywhere. Malzahn and Franklin are the only thing close to a home run hire. Otherwise, it is a crap shoot just like with Herman.

As you said, our best bet is that TH is the guy, proves he is the guy and gets this shit going.

If we're talking replacing OC...

Lashlee from SMU
Elliott or Scott from Clemson (take away the co-OC title and maybe they'll leave)
Nixon from Baylor

DC...

Haven't the slightest clue...maybe Poppinga from Virginia?

I’d run like hell from Malzahn, perhaps I’m in the minority here but in my mind he’s been disappointing year after year, they always look great at the beginning of the year but find a way to crap all over themselves imo. If the money was right I see no reason Heupel wouldn’t be interested.

In regards to Malzahn...

Remember when he first took over at Auburn that was when the SEC West was just insane. Alabama of course, but both Mississippi schools were top 5/10 programs. Both Arkansas and Texas A&M were ranked at various times. It was a snake pit of a division.

Record vs. Top 25

#11-25 -- 11 wins, 4 losses
#6-10 -- 2 wins, 6 losses
#1-5 -- 5 wins, 9 losses

In 6-1/2 season Auburn has played a top 5 school 14 times and a top 10 school 22 times, lol. That is almost 4 per season. Just nuts.

Recruiting Ranks in just the SEC

2010 - 3rd
2011 - 2nd
2012 - 4th
2013 - 6th
2014 - 4th
2015 - 5th
2016 - 5th
2017 - 4th
2018 - 3rd

He has actually met expectations or finished above them.

And remember...he was OC at Auburn when they won the natty, then he left and Auburn went 3-9. He was hired as HC and they went back to the natty game.

Just comes to show how hard it is to find good, quality coach who is the guy you need. You dont really truly know until they've had the job for a couple years though. OU better do whatever they can to never lose Riley

And Stoops stepping down when he did. That is also big. The only reason OU would lose Riley is if he WANTS to go to the NFL. He isn't going anywhere else and I doubt he goes to NFL unless he wins the natty at OU

Guys, tap the breaks a little . . . this is the same team that lost to LSU and OU by 7. They had a really bad game and are missing key people on defense. So there's that . . . but it seems we're getting worse on Defense . . . a lot worse . . . and not all of that can be attributed to missing guys. So it's a worry.

We hung 50 on Kansas which is what one would expect . . . but we barely won!! No excuse . . . our backups should be better than Kansas! Orlando is not doing a good job. He'd better fix things and quick or he might not be back.

I'm just speaking hypotheticals because of the thread. I'm still in the TH is the guy camp.

It's Texas though. We don't want last second victories over Kansas at home. We don't want questions if we can "hang" with Baylor and Iowa State. This shit is old and TH needs to get it fixed asap.

What is wrong with BJ Foster? Is he still banged up? Saw several times during the game where he was in a position to make a tackle or at least assist on one and didn't even make an effort. Also, has anyone heard when Sterns is supposed to come back?

I know Ossai is our MVP on defense, but can we at least one time line him up on the edge and let him loose? He is absolutely a beast at that but seems to be playing out of position mostly due to necessity. Almost like Malik.

Mike Gundy is one of the most underrated coaches in CFB. It's amazing what he does with 2 & 3 star players. The pickings are very slim right now for quality head coaching material. Push comes to shove, I'd take Gundy. Herman will be back next year, but he had better show some drastic improvement next season over this one, or he's going to be pushed out.

You’re getting a small sample of what OU fans have had the last 4 or 5 years. Now, to really put it into perspective for you how would you like to feel/know that your team HAD to put up 50 points a game to have a chance to win? Welcome to my world of the last 4 or 5 years

Some good points. A couple years ago OU beat them in a bowl game and I wasn’t impressed with their offense. With his resume you have to wonder how much fire he has left? When you have coaches making 5-6 million per year and they’re in their 50’s+ what’s the incentive. I just think you need to go with younger hungry coaches

One that I hope someone outside of the Big 12 picks up is Matt Rhule....that guy will have Baylor consistently at the top before long, if he stays. I believe he one that the NFL will continue to court. Also, could see USC making a run at him if they can't talk Urban out of retirement. I like Franklin as PSU as well.

greg robinson can fix tackling in 2 weeks-- seen him do it. maybe call that dude up.
Or I don't know, maybe play a little more base type stuff and get rid of the super complex crap since you are down 6 starters from the opener which only had 3 starters back. Make it easy for them and let the athleticism play

I'm one of those crazy sum bitches that has this wild idea that as you do the same thing over n over . . . ya ought ta get better at it.

We're not doing that . . . and it's not even a push at this point. We're worse on D right now than we were against LSU.

So I'm not sure Mr. Tony Orlando is up for the job . . . but he sure can sing purdy! :)

'Oh tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree, it's been 3 long years, does she still want me . . . ' :D

You young guys wont get that one!

Yellow ribbon was a war effort thing right?

Would Urban Meyer be interested in the Texas job?

I'm not trying to promote him but he's the only guy out there that is close to a home run hire.

Personally, I think TH can right the ship with a string of quality wins. I really believe that we're going to beat TCU, ISU and BU. We're getting healthy again and we certainly can't play any worse defensively than we did against KU.

It seems like the team has lost that edge that they played with. When the injuries started to pile up the coaches dialed the physical practices back and now it is showing.

You realize that we had probably five or six more guys get hurt since the LSU game right? We had a walk on RB playing LB at the end of the Kansas game. Herman said he got moved there last week. Players are having to play positions that they have not played before. It's understandable that the team has taken a step back.

Meyer is the only available coach out there that has a proven winning record. I don't think that Texas would ever hire him though.

Too much stank on urban. He'll have to go out west to LA where it's more socially acceptable to tolerate women being abused by powerful men.

Briles. He's served his time in exile. And he beat OU two times in row, which hasn't been done for a while. Go ahead, admit it, it would be fun.

Meanwhile someone will hire him and they'll win big-time. I'm tired of Texas not being a top five or top ten team every year. There is NO reason why the Horns shouldn't be every year. Texas should be every bit as good as the Alabamas, Clemsons, and Ohio States. No excuse not to be that type of program.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda! I have never in my life seen such fickle fans. I have been watching Texas football for 60 years. I am concerned with where we are and I think a big portion of it is due to injuries and we are young on defense and no one can refute that. We lose two games by 7 points each to teams ranked in the top five in the nation and have one of those games where we absolutely stunk and still won. Wisconsin was a 30+ point favorite over Illinois an unranked team. Wisconsin had given up 29 points in the first 6 games and lost 24-23 on a last second field goal. Upsets are part of college football, always have been and always will be. I believe we will beat TCU and a bye week will give us time to get some of our walking wounded healed up. As long as Sam does not get hurt we have a chance wing the rest of our games. Give this, we have to change coaches a rest, at this point that is insane.

If Texas ends up with four or five losses, you and most Longhorn fans will be singing a different tune. We aren't going undefeated the rest of the way.

He’s getting good recruiting classes. Give it time grasshopper! The athlete up grade is much better as of late. Keep putting good classes together and freshman won’t have to save your ass.

Yeah, song about a guy coming back from Nam. Wanted 1 yellow ribbon tied around a tree, was gonna stay on the bus If no ribbons. Tree had 100's of yellow ribbons on it. Good song.

Singer was Tony Orlando.
