I’d suggest moving Williams to right guard, letting DJ and Conner compete for left guard. At guard, defensive players can’t rely on finesse moves, which would only create running lanes. Instead, they have to go through the guard to make a play, and that plays to Williams’ strength. He’s the most effective run and pass blocker we would have on the interior right now.
This adjustment could elevate both our running and passing game. Closer to the ball, his false starts should be minimized, and his holding penalties likely reduced too—there’s simply more traffic inside than on the edge, where you’re often left isolated.
Additionally, from what I’m hearing, Goosby is a stronger pass blocker than Williams and holds his own in the run game—a sure NFL prospect, according to coaches who have seen practices and shared insights with me.
Thoughts??
