The Woodland's, one of Houston's swankiest suburbs, has been dubbed the best city to live in Texas for 2017. According to data site Niche, The Woodlands is ranked as the 6th best city to live in America and number one in all of Texas. The ranking website's methodology takes into account the city's location, schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics and access to extracurricular amenities.
The Woodlands beat out the next best Texas city, Plano, by one spot. The Dallas suburb came in at number 7 on the national ranking.
The cities that came in ahead of The Woodlands on the national list include:
1. Ann Arbor, Michigan
2. Naperville, Illinois
3. Arlington, Virginia
4. Columbia, Maryland
5. Berkeley, California
In all, 13 Texas cities landed on the list with five in the top 25.
Houston landed at the 57th spot, well ahead of rival cities Dallas (80) and San Antonio (90). Austin took the top spot among major metros at number 22. The Bayou City's Niche profile gives the city an overall grade of "A," but Houston's Crime and Safety and Housing categories bring the rating down with their respective "C-" and "B" grades.
