No, i’m not some crazy predicting a civil war.
This is more of a history post anyway.
But the times as they are remind me of the almost insurmountable divisions the country faced back then and eventually fought a war over.
Two sides, both possessing the unshakeable belief that they are in the right. Furthermore both sides believe that they are facing in some ways an existential threat from the other.
In that period, the line of demarcation was clear, slavery.
In these times though it’s a little more grey but nonetheless still exists.
maybe it’s not nearly as bad as I imagine (and I do believe the tensions are less than that time frame) but I’m trying to think of another time in this country when the division was this clear and palpable.
For those that were of age in the 60’s, did the Vietnam era compare at all?
