“Be kind, rewind” – Blockbuster Movie Rentals

For all the OLDS that read TG, you will remember this phrase from back in the 80’s. My friends and I would often go to Blockbusters to rent movies, and this phrase was in the store for all to see when checking out. Sure, the employees at Blockbuster would appreciate you rewinding the video tape, so they didn’t have to do it, but also the person behind you appreciates it if the employee somehow missed doing the task.

This idea of thinking of others that come behind you applies to many other areas of our lives. I see in the OB triggered thread about people upset about others that don’t put a grocery cart back into the bin. Often an abandoned cart takes up part of a nice parking space.

My wife and I walk Lady Bird trails, and we sometimes see trash along the way others discarded making our walk less pleasant let alone messing up the environment. I’ve posted in the OB triggered thread about elevator etiquette, or lack thereof, where people try to get on the elevator before the occupants inside leave first, those who do this are only thinking about themselves.

Thinking of others first seems to be a concept that is seen less and less these days. Our lives would be so much better if everyone would adopt a selfless mindset. I’m as guilty as any in violating this idea from time to time, but I’m going to try and adopt it daily.

What examples can you think of?

Thank you for reading TG my friends, take care!
