UPDATE TO MY 10/21 TG: Health Issue
Great news, my health scare was just that…a scare! I thought I might have had throat cancer, but after two tests, it is either a reaction to my newly prescribed sublingual allergy drops or acid reflux. I’ve been given another acid blocker to add to my regimen and stopped the allergy drops. If these two changes do the trick, all is well.
I really appreciate your prayers and good wishes, they were answered PTL!
TG:
“The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.”—Steven Wright
I had to think about this one for a bit before I got the quote. Steven Wright was one of my favorite comedians growing up. He had a knack of making you think a bit before the joke registered with you.
But in life, sometimes we are like that second mouse, we get a reward for someone else’s mistake.
Can you think of any times you learned from someone else’s misfortune? I sure can. Growing up as the youngest of 4 kids, my sister and two brothers made all kinds of mistakes. I did my best not to repeat them. My parents always valued common sense over book smarts. One thing I couldn’t master though as a teenager was driving well. I once got 3 traffic tickets in one month. I was on a first name basis with the traffic judge. I finally learned my lesson after I got out of high school.
I pray you have an eye to learn from other’s misfortunes and pass on that knowledge to your loved ones.
